Freethinking artistic creative types? Huh? Yeah…we’ve all witnessed this “freethinking” of progressivism…it’s been on full display. Great stuff.

Progressives are the ones that have been pushing political correctness down our throats for years. The PC police have attempted to control thought and speech in this country. Those days are hopefully over.

Progressives are the ones that cannot rationally articulate/defend their ideas and who therefore have to cling to identity politics to even stay relevant. They despise reason and the free exchange of ideas – as we are clearly witnessing this week - and desperately resort to name calling or attempts at character assassination. Everyone who disagrees with them is labeled a bigot or a racist…or on this forum the favorite is “troll”.

Progressives have hijacked and completely corrupted our institutions of higher learning, destroying academic freedom of thought in the process. Progressive snowflakes are such free thinkers that they had to be coddled like three year olds after the election…using play-doh, coloring books, crafts, puppy therapy, and safe spaces to calm their narrow little minds. Progressives have turned what are supposed to be our institutions of higher learning into bastions of violent ignorance and places where the free exchange of ideas is not welcome. Maybe they should put down the bricks and matches, and pick up some books.

And then there is you…suggesting that folks who disagree with you should perhaps go hang out on other websites, as if we can’t be true ABB fans if we aren’t a bunch of flaming liberals. Or suggesting that because some rock musicians or celebrities lean left that somehow adds validity or intellectual capital to the ideas of progressivism. Trust me…it doesn’t. Ironic (or just stupid) that you are posting on a thread about how those on the left are violently suppressing free speech, and yet trying to claim that you guys who “lean left” are freethinkers. Good one.

The new face of progressivism is Madonna, Ashley Judd, Rachel Maddow, Chuck Schumer, Pelosi, and violent rioters… Freethinking artistic creative types? Yeah, OK. But I will give you this…I guess it was pretty creative to dress up like vaginas at the pro-choice march. No one could clearly articulate or rationally defend what they were protesting…but they did have some interesting costumes.

It's not about "sides". Sometimes my position on an issue may seem liberal...for example, I am opposed to the pipeline, I am opposed to wars of aggression and and military intervention in the Middle East, etc. Sometimes my positions may seem conservative, for example, I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment, opposed to Obamacare, etc . Having a variety of views...and not playing team politics...doesn't mean that I am changing "sides". Why can't people be "liberal" on one issue, while being "conservative" on another...or neither? Grow up. Only someone with a very narrow view of the world and of politics...someone such as yourself...could make the claim that I change sides. This "us versus them, you must choose a side, you are either for us or against us, if you don't always side with us then you are changing sides" mentality is stale and intellectually bankrupt. Give it a rest.

Let me clue you in on something...maybe this will help you. One doesn't have to be a conservative/Republican in order to be opposed to progressive/"liberal" ideology and tactics. I know this may come as a shock, but there are actually other folks in America who are not conservatives/Republicans, but who despise the politics of the left nonetheless. And there may be more than just two sides to any issue...after all, political issues can be complex. They should be debated on their own merits and not just whether or not they line up with the progressive agenda.

I did not get the whole story, but I read that Trump was considering discontinuing funding to Berkley. The point brought up here about the Cointel pro people, well all I have heard about them is that they are part of the new world order group. Same allegiance. Not good.

The rest of the story is that discontinuing funding for one of the best schools in the country frees up more funds for the reopening of Trump University. Hope that helps.

Are you guys really this pathetic?...now trying to accuse me of being someone else...do you guys just sit around trying to come up with new (and more stupid) ways to attack me.

So tell me more about this brilliant theory of yours, Sherlock. What is it that I supposedly gain by secretly pretending to be Redfish7 when I am really alloak? Please...do tell. What is the purpose of this diabolical scheme of mine?

I just think it's funny. Either way, people will now see how you are exactly the same. identical in every way. different person, same person, who cares. the fact that there are 2 people the exact same is hilarious. maybe you were separated at birth?

Yeah...that's really hilarious??

What's really hilarious is watching you try to back pedal now with this "I just think it's funny..." bulls**t because you just realized how stupid and immature it was to even accuse me of that in the first place.

Where do you come up with your stuff? You should really think long and hard before you hit that "Post Reply" button from now on...

Never would have been a gift of blues rock if certain freethinking whites hadn't busted out and embraced black culture. Mainstream conservative America did not encourage that, in fact, resisted it fiercly. And that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the protest music explosion and the sounds it created.

I don't disagree with this. I just think it's a stretch to try to tie it into today's political scene and use it to somehow lend credibility to the progressive agenda. And who knows...maybe Dylan will put out another right wing, pro-Israel, anti-labor union album like Infidels...

Like I said elsewhere- Trump may prove to be the best thing to happen to rock music since the Reagan and Nixon eras.

Let's hope so...

Isn't U.C. Berkeley associated with the "Free speech movement"?...sometime in the mid-sixties?

I guess this works until the "speaker" has something to say that the left does not want to hear.

Once the violence stated, where were the Campus Police?

Where was the Berkeley PD?

“Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”

What do you prove by posting that Buckley quote? That a particular group has a flaw? Thank you Sherlock Holmes. You simply keep repeating that you are at odds with liberal thinking. Sounds like a personal problem more than anything else.
