AND then there is the money aspect.
Did you know there is a profit motive behind those detention centers? A 2 billion dollar a year industry.

From what I understand they want to refuse access to the facilities by reporters so that no one can see the conditions that STILL exist there. That is not something that should occur in a democracy.

End of story? Once the government is allowed to operate concentration camps, and no one is allowed to know what is going on there, the country is on the fast track to totalitarianism; and worse than that is that the are for profit centers. It is not okay or acceptable.

If you still have to ask it is too late. People decided America was a toilet. Trump was the flush handle. You can't stop a flush in mid-swirl.

There are two separate issues, one is immigration reform, keeping out those tho do not contribute to the culture of the people of the United States like these: [from Brooklyn, NY]

https://nypost.com/2019/09/02/west-indian-day-parade-marchers-wine-up-on-ne w-yorks-finest/

This is what they bring to this country, eroding American values, corrupting even cops.

The second issue is allowing oversight of the detention centers, and providing basic, humane settings for people to sleep, eat, and live while they are awaiting deportation or given political asylum. The process itself takes to long, we have too many people we are warehousing in privatized jail like facilities.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/migrant-girls-border-detention-menstruating- bleeding-pads_n_5d694102e4b02bc6bb38d026

How disgusting is this? They cannot even provide sanitary products for the girls, they are just left there to bleed in their clothes?

"The goal of concentration camps has always been to be ignored. The German-Jewish political theorist Hannah Arendt, who was imprisoned by the Gestapo and interned in a French camp, wrote a few years afterward about the different levels of concentration camps. Extermination camps were the most extreme; others were just about getting “undesirable elements … out of the way.” All had one thing in common: “The human masses sealed off in them are treated as if they no longer existed, as if what happened to them were no longer of interest to anybody, as if they were already dead.”

"When a leader puts people in camps to stay in power, history shows that he doesn’t usually stop with the first group he detains."

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-katz-immigrant-concentration-ca mps-20190609-story.html

Remarks: What is worse is something else under consideration in DC, dealing with the mass shooter scenarios, Trump wants more mental hospitals to house the people, just get them out of the way. Nobody else agrees with this, so he's come up with an idea to use $35 billion in block grants given to states to let them come up with ways to make their communities safe by doing something about these people.

https://apnews.com/b0b1034de6d24fd4b0dd2f9367442449

The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors has a different suggestion. After the El Paso and Dayton shootings, it recommended that Congress add $35 million for a block grant program to help states provide more community-based care to people in a mental health crisis.

“We need to expand treatment programs, because most people with mental health problems aren’t violent, they just need help,” the paper said. “But for those who are violent, a danger to themselves or others, we need to get them off the street before they can terrorize our communities.”

Who was President when the Japanese were "rounded up" and placed in "Internment" camps during WWII?

Or by definition can they be referred to as "Concentration camps"?

The Japanese internment camps most certainly fit the definition of concentration camps, and referring to them by that term is accepted by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Roosevelt was the president who signed the Executive Order to incarcerate all US citizens of Japanese descent.

Hey BIGV, what is the implication? Is it because a Democrat president had a racist policy in the 1940s, people who vote for Democrats shouldn't complain about a Republican president being a racist in the 21st century?

I would ask "What crimes" U.S. Citizens of Japanese descent committed?

The internment of Japanese Americans was a racist policy that the people of this country should have condemned. That was a different time and different circumstances. We were at war with Japan. Are we at war with Mexico?

Thanks for the History lesson.

There is a legal port of entry, is the Law being broken when that Port of entry is evaded?

Break the Law and pay the price.

Trump supporters use policy as a cowardly disguise because they are too ashamed to speak freely. Imagine having to constantly speak in code because you know you will be hated if you are honest - sounds like hell.

Illegal border crossing is a misdemeanor. Detention for an indefinite length of time is unconstitutional, cruel and unusual punishment. Would you consider it fair to be carted off to a concentration camp for the misdemeanors you have committed?

The Border Guards, Facilities and officials are being overwhelmed. Misdemeanor or Felony it is taxing the resources of this Country... Here is the LAW the President Trump is enforcing. It has ZERO to do with "Policy"
========
§1325. Improper entry by alien
(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

Don't like U.S. Laws or how they are enforced?..... Do not break them

Unless you are the government, then break all the laws you want. Detainees are being held
for years. The law states no longer than six months.

Trump supporters point to policy AND laws as a cover, because they know they’ll be hated if they speak freely. Sounds like hell.
