You know, songs that you like except for that part that irritates you.......mine is

'Have you ever loved a woman...so much....you tremble in pain...'

I love the song but every time I hear that part I always say (out loud)

'No'. I mean, at that point, I'd have to get out of it.....

that whole bit about "keepin' your head while givin' head" on Walk On the Wildside kind disturbed me..."now, he is a she." You guys remember that little nugget?

Hey I like this song, mostly for the Bo Diddly-type jam at the end but I could do better than this line.

I really like Old Before my Time.

Except the line about a "Victory Dance"

Did I miss something?

Is that a term for death, or just needed the rhyme with chance?

Well it does rhyme with chance but I actually think the Victory Dance lines fits the context of the song...I kind of like and appreciate that analogy and I certainly feels its suits Greggs history of his life so...

Interesting you mentioned that song, because although I love that album, I don't like something about the lyrics in that song...not the lyrics themselves, but somehow just how they flow

I love the song.

Very heartfelt, autobiographical.

Just that one phrase grates on me.

Or just sounds clumsy.

or off

Know what I mean?

Wasn't 'Victory Dance' nearly the name of the CD?

For me 'eviler than evil' during "Devil's Sea" is a bit odd but hey, I don't write 'em.
Love the song though.

No pictures.

ABB doesn't allow cameras.

And that policy "sucks!"

But there is a section on the website for posting your pictures.

Go figure.

Yes. I know what you mean. Something with it just doesn't settle with you somehow. I've had that happen with lots of other songs, course I can't remember even ONE of them right now...

But I always get a kick out of that one I listed before...

..'have you ever loved a woman...so much....you tremble in pain..'

UH, ........ no

I know you're used to running
You're lost baby, and I ain't funning
But when you call to me, I'll come running

Funning is awkward, nevermind that it's cheating to use the same word twice. Stands out that much more because it's a well-written song except for that line.

We need to think of some non-ABB songs here.

well, I'll throw a tangent in here: I get physically ill when I hear ANYTHING by Ani DeFranco (guitar, lyrics, the whole 9 yards)

The Phil Lesh & Friends song..."Celebration" with the line
"Say there's nothing left to celebrate,
Just stolen elections, corruption and hate"

Just let it go already, I go to a liberal arts college and am so freakin' sick of hearing this I could puke. We'll keep it at that to avoid a rant

Jimi Hendrix Experience, Purple Haze. Great song, man, no doubt. But,

"'Scuze me, while I kiss this guy?!?!?" Come on now . . . hey man whatever Jimi's preference happens to be is his business . . . if he wants to take a second out to kiss his partner, who are we to say anything? But do we really have to hear about it in the middle of a jamming tune?

The song was written in early 2001, when that was still current. Although I think it still feels like a weird attempt to be topical.

Gotta be " looks Like Rain" by the Dead. I love Garica's playing at the end and the way it builds up, but that one line about " street cats making love " makes me want to puke. Defiantly not a Robert Hunter lyric. Weir's reworked alot of his tunes over the years and has never touched this one.

How about the great Gov't Mule song " Fallen Down"? Warren couldn't come up with a better opening line than " Bigillo the Gigillo" ?

And of course any lyrics by Phish drive me up the wall.
