ROLL CALL!!!!!
Who's in for some Mule this Saturday the 6th?
Some folks are planning to make a day of it and get there early to enjoy the beach. Come on down and meet in the lot near lightpost "J". I hear some extra tickets are available.

We're getting there sometime in the early afternoon...probably between 2:00 and 3:00.

The weather is supposed to be great, and we're meeting Reilly so he can pick up our extras and head to an afternoon function before the show.

We hope to meet up with some friends from the Vibes board as well. Maybe we can combine tailgates.

Damn, what a great double bill. You just know Warren will be out with Trey and vice versa! Wish like hell I could attend. You folks have a great time! Knock a couple back for ol' "Chainer" if you would.

See you there Dan. Make sure you come hang out for a while before the show.

Thanks, NYC....I'll be thinking of you lucky folks. I'll send some positive "Karma" your way. Not that you'll need any help in that department.

I will be there. Any idea what time Gov't Mule will be coming on? The gates open at 5:30 but the show is called for 7:00.

Or have any idea how long Mule will be playing for. It says "one full set" but that could range from an hour to somewhere around two hours. Hoping for the longer set.

I'm guessing Mule will hit the stage pretty darn close to 7:00 as they're scheduled for a full set and Trey's band for two.

I've heard Mule's time is slated at 90 minutes. I'm not sure if that's true, but it came from a faily reliable source. I was thinking more like 75 minutes, but who knows. I sure like the sound of 90 more, so that's what I'm hoping for.

I was thinking they would be on earlier. Jones Beach usually ends by around 11:00 and Trey is playing two sets. I figure GM will be on 6:30 at the latest. Maybe as early as 6:00

Can they actually do that if the ticket and venue website both list the start time as 7:00?

That would suck for a lot of folks who I know who are coming just for Mule and might not even get there until 6:00 or 6:30.

I mean, a start time is a start time unless they make a formal change, no?

I know...I hope more people realize this.

I mean, it's actually kinda obvious. Despite many of our preferences and Trey's recent solo struggles, he is still a bigger draw than Mule at this point in time.

Now, before I get all flamed and stuff...let me make this clear:

Mule is absolutely on top of their game right now and one of the best live acts on the planet...they are just on freaking fire. I've seen them 4 times in the last 6 months and they seem to get better with each show right now.

They will more than likely destroy whatever product Trey puts on stage on Saturday. I know it'll be a better band with Tony Hall on bass and two female backing vocalists, but Mule should simply overpower Trey's very new band. It could make Trey bring his "A" game; it could crush him. It's a toss up. I'm hoping for the former. It'll still be nearly impossible for this band to top Mule, but at least an "A" game from Trey will lead to some major guitar work for the evening...and that'll be fun, to say the least.

And this is coming from somebody who has been on board with both Mule and Trey for a long time. I've been seeing Mule since 1995 and Phish since 1989. I'm familiar with these guys and their work.

Now...with all that said, Trey is still a bigger ticket draw than Mule right now. No two ways around that one.

I could be wrong about this but I have been to shows at Jones where the opening act has already been on statge as I've walked in. I for one am not taking the risk of missing one minute of GM so I will be there whenthe doors open.

Anyone know if "Live Tracks" will be available at this show? I haven't checked the 'Mule site in a bit to find out the status. Just curious, would love to get a copy of 'Mule. By the way, Seth mentioned a few things about the inspriration behind "Patchwork Quilt" last night on Sirius just before she played the acoustic version from Bonaroo. Very cool!

The mule has mule tracks for all their performances, this should be no exception. I hope there are some risks taken with the set list for this abbreviated mule show.

Can I ask a question: who is Seth???

We're off to go shopping for tailgate supplies in a little bit.

Just a reminder for folks who plan on drinking at Jones Beach...USE CUPS!

They're usually cool about tailgating as long as the booze isn't out in the open, you aren't vending, and you don't have a grill. Everything else they're pretty cool about...keep your empties out of view, don't take up too much space, all the usual parking lot stuff.

And, for those who wish to plan their alcohol intake...no beer is sold inside the venue unless you have a VIP ticket and can get into the tent.

Looks like it's going to be a nice day tomorrow. I'm looking forward to some food, friends, beer, and the beach before the show.

Guyute,

Sometimes the anticipation of a show is almost as good as the show itself. Your post has me salivating! I've always enjoyed the pre-tailgaiting shopping spree. Isn't that odd? Anyway, have a great time tomorrow, gang!

Just bought some cups yesterday and something to pour in them.

Guyute, I like how you put things in perspective. Phish had an enormous following, so it stands to reason Trey'd bring in a bigger crowd than Mule and should be the headliner. I'm going to listen to Trey's sets with an open mind, but I'm only going to this show because the Mule is opening.
Besides that, I hear there's gonna be a helluva pre-party!
See you all there.
