What are my choices with a video dvd that I can play but can't burn a copy of using Sonic (Dell) or Nero? It's a bootleg so copy protection isn't an issue.

I have a vhs-to-dvd burner on my tv. I'm thinking I need a portable dvd player that I can hook to the tv burner as an external source (s-video & analog plugs are available). It's gonna need the right one though (perhaps another burner drive) because the disc won't play in my Panasonic player.

Any ideas appreciated. Otherwise I'll be wandering Circuit City & Best Buy for ideas.

Wandering Best Buy worked. I found a work around for burning a "copy" of a dvd that won't burn. I bought a dvd player to hook to my tv component dvd burner (as an external source). I don't think the menu works but it sure beats a vhs copy. I used an S-video connection for the best quality video.

Bev theres a lot of good info here> http://www.videohelp.com/ try dvd decrypter to rip it and burn again on your dell. If it was made on a standalone but not "closed" that may be the issue. TMPGenc will let you chop it or put in chapter breaks at songs.
