I turned 50 two months ago - I'm having a blast. I decided to celebrate by declaring the whole year "The Year of Rich". The opening event was a night at the Beacon with ABB back in March, and I hope the closing will be there as well. In the interim, I'm doing what I love best: indulging in live music wherever and with whomever of my friends I can con into dragging along. The rules are: during the Y of R, Rich pays. I see it as not so much of a celebration for me, but about honoring a number of good friendships I've had, in some cases for many decades. (ok, there is some bs in there - as I am one self indulgent SOB. But hey; others are benefiting as well, ok?) So I've been using up all my airline miles and hotel points and spending too much for tickets to see everything I want to see.

In addition to ABB, there's been: Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Tom Waits, Steely Dan, DTB, and Robin Trower. Coming up are CSN&Y, Peter Frampton, Roger Waters, and Eric Clapton. I'm hoping to squeeze another Trower date into October. And I'm on the lookout for options for Nov thru the March wrap-up back at the Beacon with ABB. When it's all over I plan on Y of R tour tee-shirts for all those who attended a sanctioned Y of R event.

Celebrate my man - it's too short a ride not to do what you want.

I meant that tongue in cheek. I'm not far behind y'all. 50 sure beats the alternative!

I turned 50 exactly 5 months & 1 day ago. I went from feeling like 25 to feeling like 90 overnight. I think my body was just waiting for "the day" and then it let loose with all the maladies at once. Hypertension, Gout, Arthritis, etc...all hit at the same time. I went from being able to get that first step when driving the lane, to barely being able to walk much less play hoops.

I believe Mickey Mantle now ..."If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself".

It's all a frame of mind, I'll be 53 in 10 days, I'm in better shape now than I was 20 years ago, although mentally I sometimes think I'm stuck in '71 .I have 4 bicycles and ride them all, it's GOOD addiction too.I mountain bike with people 1/2 my age, sometimes they smoke me and sometimes I smoke them. I still puff a little herb now and then and believe me there is a lot more damaging things one could do.Never got into the alcholhol thing and glad I didn't. I must say being passionate about something or having a hobby(ABB Music) really helps you get through life. Happy Bithday Dude!

I started on my second 50 back in December. I agree with playallnite, it's all in your head. I'm a better man now than I've ever been, and can work circles around men half my age. I really do feel better now than when I was in my 20s, and plan to enjoy the next 50 even more than I did the first.
