Hi Folks,

Apologies if I go over old ground here - I just recently got on here, and the thought of ploughing through 50 pages of postings was too much for me! :-)

Has anyone got the definitive date on the 1970 Stony Brook show, that circulates as both 7/26/70 and 10/23/70? They both have the same tracklisting, and I've heard arguments for both dates - the band play a very short version of YDLM, which I'm told didn't debut until Oct '70 but, in Duane's intro to Elizabeth Reed, he states that it's from their forthcoming LP; according to my info, Idlewild South was released in Sept '70!

I'm confused - help!

Paul

Paul - I have only been trading for a few month and have yet to see a 10/23 show. data base says they played there, but doesn't list a set list or any traders. I'll keep my eyes open for it.

good luck

Welcome aboard Paul!
Paul is a new trading buddy of mine from England. A real Dead Head with a flare for the Brothers.....

To answer your question, 7/26/70 is the real deal! 10/23/70 is a correct date but no show has ever surfaced, so some people that want to add trade bait will take part of 7/26 and part of another show close to that date, and call it 10/23/70.
Plus, It's a CaptSkipper remaster, and I know him well enough to know that all the info is correct or he won't touch it....

This is a problem with several ABB shows, such as 12/31/70 that most of the time is actually 3/20/71. Both are from the Warehouse and both do exsist, but the quailty on the 3/20 is a good bit better overall that 12/31....

We (ABB traders) don't have the real accurate info like the dead base does. Its' coming and will be a huge help to traders in finding correct dates & setlists......

Paul, I hope this has been of help to you and I do fell 100% accurate that the info above is correct....

Thanks Clay - I shall note my list accordingly. I look forward to seeing a decent ABB tapes database - it's good to see that people are putting the work into preserving the music/history of the band now.

I appreciate the little introduction; I don't know about a flare for the Brothers, but I'm just in the process of getting seriously back into them, after a couple of years hiatus.

It's with thanks to folks like Clay (from whom I've just received a rather excellent batch of Capt Skipper remasters - cheers!) that I'm really reminding myself of just what an excellent band they were/are!

Paul
P.S. I told you I'd check out the forum, didn't I?? :-)
