The ceremony is tonight, 8:00 PM EST in the Anything Goes Forum

But we need a few more presenters

Please sign up at the end of this thread

Presenters, be looking in your inbox for your Peachie winner(s), the info should be there later today to give you time to prepare your presentation.

Thanks all who helped and nominated and voted, good luck to all the nominees, and let's get this party started

OK, folks . . . . . .

It's Voting time

Here's the dealio:

The voting link for the 2006 Peachies is on the home page

Click on the link and it will take you to the actual ballot, where you can choose amongst the nominees, or you can write in a vote if you want. You can vote for all the categories, or you can vote for a few, whatever you want to do. Before you start voting, you will need a piece of scratch paper and a pencil or pen. I'll explain in a little bit.

****IMPORTANT**** Please read this fine print

This is the tabulation process:

When you have completed your ballot, You will click on a button labeled "VOTE!"

After you click the VOTE! button, you will be given a ten digit ballot number, with 117 the first three digits (1178371340 for example)

Write this number down on the paper with the pen or pencil you were supposed to have ready.

(or, for you technically advanced among us, you could copy the number to your clipboard. I would still recommend you write the number down, just to be safe)

Now, you need to "VERIFY" your ballot. To VERIFY your ballot, send me (Slammer) that ten digit number you wrote down (or copied to clipboard). Open up a PM and put Slammer on the "send to" line and the ten digit verification number in the subject line and in the text part of the pm.

That's it. I know it's a little different procedure than previous years, but we are upgrading the process and need to adapt

When you click on the vote button, an email is sent to the vote counters, with your votes and your ten digit number. The tabulators will not know who voted since they only see the ten digit number on the ballot. Only after you send me your verification number, and I pass the number to the vote counters, will your ballot be opened and your votes counted. You know, when you think about it, you have to show ID when you go to the polls to vote every time, so yea, I think it will be just fine. I hope this extra step doesn't discourage anbody from voting. It won't add that much time to the process.

Voting starts at noon EST, Monday, Feb 12th and you can vote once until midnight EST on Monday, Feb 19th

Thanks to all of you who took the time to nominate, and Please to everyone to vote

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE NOMINEES, Y'ALL ARE PEACHIE WORTHY

The ballot was closed Monday night, Feb 5th. Thanks to all who took the time to nominate their favorites for 2006. This is not the voting booth, a special location will be set up for the elections. I am happy about all the nominees, all Peachie worthy. I hope that you are, also.

Here is the ballot that was presented to Rowland:

Well folks, since we all had such a good time the last few years, it seems a lot of you want to do it all again. The few that were arrested last time have all been released. So, I guess since the powers-that-be will lets us, we might as well do it!

As you recall, the Peachies are a cyber awards banquet of sorts which allow us to toot our own horns as well as the band's. You won't get to actually go on stage and toot the band's horn, mind you. But you do get to have a little fun and vote on the year's best guitar solo and favorite show, etc.

This year will be no different - it's only going to be held a little bit later as the guys on their own tours went all the way to the end of the year. I'll post below the winners of the awards for the last couple of years to refresh your groggy little memories.

We're thinking of holding the actual award ceremony in the evening sometime mid February. Plan on it now. Take vacation if need be to set aside this time - you won't regret it....

Anyway, during the next week all of you can help decide what awards will be presented during the ceremony. After we establish the awards, we will take about two or three weeks and have a nominating process where you can nominate someone for an award. Once we have a full plate of nominations, we'll take the top three nominees for each award and place them on a ballot.

Rowland and Lana will have a special web site prepared for everyone to vote for the award winners. We'll give everyone a week or two to vote.

Once the votes are counted we'll have presenters (we need you to volunteer) at the award ceremony to hand out the awards....

So, your homework assignments are as follows:

1) Generally confirm below in this thread that one evening in mid February works to hold the award ceremony.

B) Let me know below in this thread if you want any new awards to be given this year. Keep in mind that it lasted a couple hours last year, so any new awards will likely mean that we have to get rid of an existing award.....

c) Begin to think about nominating someone for an award. No need to do that here as we will start a new thread for the nomination process....

IV) Sign up below if you want to be a presenter. We'll need a presenter for each award given. It's generally not required that you be funny to be a presenter, only that you clean up real good and you'll show up on time. If you presented last year, and would like to present the same category this year, say so.

Oh and remember, it's not a competition. It's only an exhibition. So please, no wagering..

(thanks Chad)

Let's get this party started !!!!!!!

Just to maximize attendance, Slammer, let's not have it Wednesday 2.14 or the following weekend, 2.16 & 17.

I would imagine that most non-Peachy people would not consider it a romantic evening or weekend to just sit there a couple hours watching their valentines hunched over the keyboard, laughing and typing like crazy!

I'll present either Best Avatar and/or Best Signature again, please. Certainly give one to a hopeful first-time presenter, though.

Thanks, Steve! If you haven't unexpectedly become all decrepit recently, I know you'll do another super job as organizer and M.C.!

And Woo-hoo!

Mid-February sounds good to me. 1st choice, M or R; 2nd, T or F; 3rd, W.

Let's see if it's a day I can attend before I sign up to present . . . I think I had to pull out at the last minute* last year.

I've got a few suggestions on the categories, but I'll hold off on those until I have a little time.

*Too bad I didn't learn that trick earlier in life . . .

How 'bout we hold the ceremony on February 22 ?? I believe that will give us plenty of time to do nominations and voting.

Here is a tentative schedule of events. Let's get some feedback on the timeline, so we can start making real plans:

Nominations open: January 19
Nominations close: January 31
Voting starts: February 12
Voting ends February 19
Awards Ceremony: Feb 22

There needs to be a gap between nominations and voting to allow Rowland to set up the voting booth and the assorted techie thingies to send the votes to the accounting firm counting the ballots

I will double check with Rowland on these dates, just to make sure he is in town and available, but let's hear from you folks to confirm the timeline.

C'mon, people

Let's get some input

As you can see, we needed several folks to pull double duty last year as presenters. I am hoping we don't have to impose on those gracious people this year.

Veterans or rookies, young or old, everybody qualifies to be a presenter.

Also, by looking at the cue sheet, you can see the ceremony lasts a couple of hours. Best two hours you'll spend on the innernet all year.

And as always, pants are optional

If you need a presenter once all the oldtimers have signed on, I'd be happy to present whatever's left or nothing at all.

Nothing personal, but that's one of the categories I was going to recommend we scrap.

Seriously, the Mule and DTB just sort of pass the trophy back and forth. Sure, we got Susan, and Greg and Friends, and the Peacemakers, and even Jaimoe's Jass band, but we know with the ABB crowd, the DTB and the Mule are always going to be the frontrunners. Also, I think "best family band" is far too broad.

There's really no qualitative consideration for the award . . . it really comes down to . . . do we have more Mule fans or DTB fans participating this year? Or, which do you like better, the Mule or DTB?

I think Droog was refering to the ABB Family Band category, not the HTW Family Band category, whick consists of the likes of Lefty and No Mercy, Donna Hopkins, Dusty Sommers, Honeytribe, and all the other HTW sites.
