As I sit here putting together a B&P package to send to a generous HTW trader, I got to wondering. Why do we send TWO envelopes ? Wouldn't it be easier and more environmentally friendly to send stamps and return labels inside an envelope. The receiver could slap these over the old postage and address labels and return the CDs in the same envelope the blanks were sent in. It might require a little extra effort (carefully) opening the original envelope and maybe some sealing tape but since most of us send as many shows as we receive this should all work out in the end.. Just a thought.

You can enclose a return label and the proper amount of stamps with your blanks for the return.

Doesn't work for me due to the stickers that cover up the envelope for cross border crossings now

I send two; I think it needs to be as easy as it can for the person burning & sending the shows.
Not a big deal, though, really.

I traded a lot with someone on this board who enclosed stamps and mailing label and it worked out fine for me. But I can understand why it could be cumbersome for someone.

I always take the attitude that the person who is providing me with a show via B&P is doing ME a favour ... and so it is only courteous that I make his job as easy as possible and consequently I always use two envelopes ... a bubble mailer on the inside for the return to me and an ordinary envelope on the outside for the outbound leg of the trip.

Having said that, I'm a pretty easy going kind of guy and what people do when they get a B&P from me doesn't really bother me ... I'll stick labels on for them and re-use the envelope if they want me too.

What concerns me more is how well the discs are actually protected ... I've had some sent in ordinary envelopes with no padding what-so-ever, and that does bug me because I don't want to waste my time burning a show for someone and then have it break in the post. If you have ever received a package from me you will know that I am perhaps a bit over-protective of discs when I send them, but I guess we all have our foibles.

Colin said it all. The person is doing you a favor. Thus you must make it as easy as possible for the person burning the show. If multiple shows I even mark the sleeves with the name and disc number. Making it as easy a possible for the person helping me.

With that said I dont have a problem with postage and labels inside mailer.

If you are not sure ask the person before sending out.

I agree that it should be done however the person doing the B&P wishes. Maybe indicate in the offer if a single mailer with postage & address label enclosed is OK. Or the B&P-ee could ask if it's OK when they PM for the info.

i know i do this on occasion. do most traders on here have a problem with that? i'll totally stop if people get irked. i get 'em single all the time (sometimes with real creative packaging) and i ususally dont mind at all.

usually, if i get magic stamps, or i'm just running out of supplies, i'll send a single (but i usually write "OPEN CAEFULLY, PLEASE REUSE" on the flap)

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Yes I agree that the person on the other end is doing me a favor and I should make it as easy as possible on them. When I've been on the sending end it wouldn't bother me. As often as not I've told the person not to send me anything and I can handle the buck or 2 for disk, mailer and postage. Some of the people here have been incredibly generous to me and I try and pay it back in kind. But I see your point. From now on I will ask the person sending me the show what their preference is..

I think most don't mind Vinny. Just to be safe just ask unless you know. It will be easier to make a note of who doesnt for future reference.
