Looks like a fantastic show. This from Mulebase, I had to search to verify I hadn't seen him since the Santa Barbara show opening for Phil. I may have seen them in NY one time after (a Roseland perhaps) but my memory sucks. I'd have to say the Santa Barbara 8/22/99.

that was great.
Woody gave you an experience no matter what! Not for the light hearted music fan. It went right through you, thats the best part of it all.
Its a funny question, and my not immediately knowing although I thought it) is ironic, his music is rolled into one huge bass that rips the cover off my insides. Intense. I guess I lump a lot of his shows even though I saw him a few (never as much as I'd want though) (around 50 or so? I'd guess, maybe more?)
That sound was unstoppable, unbeatable. Bar none, really, in my time at least, I never saw Berry, I'm sure that was a major force as well....

I never saw one with Woody. Just on dvd. One of my musical regrets.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Warren M, the old ticket from 8-9-96 HOB in Hollywood that you sent me means a lot to me. That it's a show from the west coast has a special meaning to me too. Lots of fans have been very generous to me through the years. Your sending me an old ticket from the early days is way up there in terms of kindness and I just wanted to acknowledge that sort of publically. Also cause I don't think I ever told you that your gesture was deeply appreciated. :-)
Late June of '00; Mule opened up for Steve Miller at an outdoor show in Indpls. Woody and Warren came back out and jammed with Steve Miller on 3 or 4 tunes in his show.
Mule did a meet and greet after their set and what I can remember about that was how friendly all the guys were, how nice and cordial Matt Abts was to my then 13 yr old drummer son, how worn out and tired Warren appeared and that Woody was pretty pre-occupied talking to a guy next to him but was still taking time and being polite to the fans at the same time. That would have been my third time I think meeting the band and speaking with them for a few minutes. Always got a sincere, warm vibe from all 3 of them each time.
Encore: Creep
THis was my last MUle show w/ Woody and a GREAT one it was - IT was Just 3 shows before his very last before he passed away...LOVE Ya WOODY!
What I didn't like about the summer of 2000 for The Mule was all those opening sets for Steve Miller ....a bad pairing for The Mule and they didn't have much to gain from it in my opinion. I am glad I passed on that part of the schedule. A 45 minute set is waaaaay too short for the Mule....and they could blow Steve Miller and his band away even on their worst night let alone their best....
Off the top of my head I'm not sure. I'd have to look through ticket stubs. I do know it was Boston and I'm thinking the Avalon Ballroom.
