....has Zak Efron from Disney's High School Musical II on the cover oh and a lesser story about EC and Crossroads Festival II.

I know because my kids watch the Disney Channel...really

It's a good thing I'm not paying for this subscription.

Just got my Rolling Stone and saw Zac on the cover: the new American heart throb.

Gregg Allman in the early 70's looked much better than this kid on the RS cover - no shirt.

Let's hope RS is not returning to the form of 7-8 years ago. When they ran consecutive covers of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, that's when I cancelled. They seemed to improve a lot, so I resubscribed a couple of years ago. Let's face it folks, we baby boomers are a dwindling lot as far as music mag subscriptions go; maybe the reality is they have to cater to the kiddies to sell.

That guy is from "High School Musical" which is selling MILLIONS, so they are no dopes to put him on the cover.

Think of their famous David Cassidy cover.

But yes, it is lame anyway! It was nice to see Derek quoted so frequently in the Crossroads article though.

I'm gonna be embarrassed to take that thing out of my mailbox.

I have a 1 year free subscription as well, Dutch. I quit paying for the magazine years ago.

My daughter will be excited when she gets home and sees it.Add in that my wife picked up the soundtrack for High School Musical 2 today and she'll be in heaven.

That said, there's no reason for him to be on the cover of RS.If I didn't get it for free,I wouldn't pay a nickel for RS.

I still think RS still has merits, but it is not what it was. That is for sure. The public/international affairs writing is still quite good. David Fricke is still writing for it. Unfortunately, so is Rob Sheffield and too many other "think they're clever" types as well. However, what I saw in my mailbox today hit a new low. Zac Efron should be on the cover of People not RS. This was the worst cover ever for the magazine.

My subscription finally ran out a couple months ago. I'm so happy. The last couple years RS went straight from mailbox to trash can.

In 1969 after they fired Brian Jones, Mick Taylor came on board as the new Rolling Stone. I think his debut was that concert in Hyde Park. Apparently the security at that show was made up of Hells Angels. However, UK Hells Angels were relatively tame compared to their American counterparts.

Mick remained with the Stones until 1974, and then was replaced by Ron Wood. Anyone know what Mick Taylor is doing these days?

Mick still plays European blues fests but seems to have a low profile in the past 2 years. He did have a touring blues band from 1986-2005 and did plenty of sessions with others.

AFter leaving the Stones, Taylor played with Keef and Mick in 1977 on John Phillips's solo album "Pay Pack and Follow"; he played on Keef's first solo disc "Talk is Cheap"; Keith sat in with Mick T live in 1986 in NYC; Mick Taylor sat in with the Stones live in Kansas City 1981 and then at the R'n'R HOF in 1989. Bonus: Mick Taylor played with Bill Wyman on the second Rhythm KIngs' disc about 5 years back!

My brother saw Mick last year at the Chicago Blues Festival. It was his first American appearance in about 5 years, I believe. I forgot who Mick was on stage with.
