ya think it was the black female thing and the shattering of preconceived notions...?

That's what I heard was coming from the pulpit of some of the Baptsit churches out here. I thought it was pretty cool.

I love how God works. Sometimes people think they're getting something from you, when in reality they are giving something to you. Thank you Father, for the way you use people in our lives. Amen

I have come to this ocean
And the waves of fear are starting to grow
The doubts and questions are rising with the tide
So I'm clinging to the one sure thing I know

Like a child holding on to a promise
I will cling to His word and believe
As I press on to take hold of that
For which Christ Jesus took hold of me

I will hold on to the hand of my Savior
And I will hold on with all my might
I will hold loosely to things that are fleeting
And hold on to Jesus for life

"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, becuase you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Doug, I just can't tell you how much you've done for me. I've been thinking about you all day and thanking God for bringing you to me. I wish there was some way I could reciprocate your thoughtful kindness. I will pass it on.

Peace and love to you and yours.

"The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LKord, for the Lord is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here Elijah?"

It's easy to become angry with others when they ridicule God and the Bible, and those of us who have been transformed by God into new creatures who walk in faith with him. We can feel hurt and offended. We want to argue the finer points that can prove God's existence, or lash back at the way others attack us. All those repsones are wrong and go against God's words to us. In the end only love will remain, and so often those who seem the most unloving are the ones most in need of love. Jesus prayed for those who crucified him from the corss, and we are called to do the same. Otherwise we deny to the world God's transforming spirit in our lives and the joy that he has given us. It seems to always be about more of him and less of us, more surrender, more letting go. Only then can we be filled with the love and joy he has for us.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.

It's hard to see so many people struggling. I know I keep hearing things are getting better, but in my community I haven't seen it yet. Lots of tough times, and it is frustrating to not have the financial resources myself to help so many people out. But We all do have time, and that can sometimes be the biggest gift we have to give of all. A smile, a helping hand, a kind word, a wave to a neighbor. A little bit of that human touch.

"Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you s0mething to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?

The king will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Matt. 25:37-40
