So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled himself to us through Christ and gave us the ministery of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not countingmen's sins against them.

2 Cor. 5:18-19

Stay strong Doug. Somebody sent me this and I like it.

The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...

The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer
and Lazarus was dead!

No more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential.
Besides, you aren't the message, you are just the messenger.

1. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
2. Dear God, I have a problem, it's me.
3. Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional.
4. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.
5. Silence is often misinterpreted but never misquoted .
6. Do the math. Count your blessings.
7. Faith is the ability to not panic.
8. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging.
9. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, don't worry.
10. As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home everyday.
11. Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.
12. The most important things in your house are the people.
13. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

Thanks gina. Through all this I've come to this point of just trudging through, day by day, doing the same things, spending time alone in meditation and prayer, just putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward.Somehow now this becomes the way I am; no5t doing it because I am supposed to, but becuase it is now who I am. Things I don't need are cut off and cast aside, whether they be material things, thoughts, or attitudes. Things I do need become much more dear and precious, like family and friends, fellow travelers on this road. Now the trudging is not so much trudging, but a warm and enjoyable daily walk. This pruning process is painful sometimes, but I can see the fruit it is bearing.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Ro. 8: 26-28

OK, this is wierd. I went to post in Cami's thread and just got overwhelmed by feelings of sadness and loss for Bobo. Couldn't even tell Cami what I set out to say. Went straight to my bible and got this:

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to seperate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord".

Rom. 8:38-39

I was flippin' the channels last night and ran into a local access program. It was a pastor from a local church preaching from a service this past Sunday. His sermon was based on IIPeter 1:5-7. He touched on every point in the verses, faith, goodness,knowledge,self-control, perserverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love. He stayed a while longer on self-control, mentioning fasting and that fasting could be a number of things and not necessarily food (something I and I'm sure some other people, never considered) He said it could be an attitude, tv, your talk, temperment, a habit, any number of things. Made me think...

God puts something or someone in our path JUST when we need it. Sometimes it's not a good thing or person and our spiritual knowledge, discernment and faith are tested and put into use. It's nice that God prepares us.

brothers and sisters. This may take a minute but bear with me.

Some of you may know that I volunteer at a hospital. I spend some time in the ICU and CCU parts of the hospital and it's a sobering and humbling experience. Those nurses are angels.

Anyway, I'm in the cafeteria at lunch and I just sat down and said grace (I always say grace and I mention that not to boast or anything but as a prelude to the following) and this much older couple stands opposite me (the place was packed) and the man said, "We saw you saying grace and wondered if we could sit with you". I stood (men, always stand to shake hands or welcome a woman) and said, "By all means, sit." I said , "I said grace in 5 seconds, you must have just caught me"
Anyway, this couple has a daughter, married to a dude that fell off a ladder, 22 YEARS AGO and has stood by the dude all that time (He's paralyzed and thus, very needy) As they were talking, I could see tears welling up in their eyes and they were two of the sweetest people you'd ever meet and it broke my heart. So we kind of huddled up a bit and I prayed for them, for us, and we went our seperate ways after we ate and they were thankful to ME !!! It made me think...just when you think times are tough and there's no light at the end of the tunnel, you see someone that has endured a lifetime of woe. Oh, their daughter...married this man 4 months before the accident. How's THAT for sticking by a man?!! She has visited her husband every day in every hospital he's been in from the Cape to Boston to Providence. So if you think you've got it tough, consider her.
Not sure why I mention all of this, I see so much in this hospital but for some reason, this had a very profound effect on me.

I think there are so many that are hurting, in need, or just wanting someone to share a human moment with that if we could really see into the hearts of others, past the brave fronts so many put on, we would be overwhelmed with the opportunities for compassion and kindness. In sharing our fears, troubles, and concerns, we actually open the door for others to share theirs, and in so doing we connect in a very real and spiritual way. So that our weaknesses and struggles are turned into a huge spiritual asset.

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Matt. 25:34-40

After I stop singing Whippin' Post, I'll beheading into the Book of Job probably. Anyway this is very true.

That which you think about, you get (first law).

When you give thought to something you desire with an expectation or
believe in it, you are then in the place to receive it. (second law)

The difference between the Law of Attraction and the Law of Deliberate
Creation is that, the Law of Attraction is like a boomerang. Whatever we
give out with our energy vibrations (thoughts, feelings, etc) we will
receive back to us. The Law of Deliberate Creation is offering a
vibration knowingly.

Most of the time you are offering a vibration unknowingly.

For example, if you are witnessing something that makes you happy, you
are raising your vibration and you will then vibrate happiness. On the
other hand, if you witness something that makes you angry, you will
offer that same negative vibration.

When you don't apply the Law of Deliberate Creation you are an
observer. You focus on your current reality and you have a vibration
(either positive or negative). The Law of Attraction then responds to
that vibration and you receive more of the same.

************ ********* ****

The Law of Allowing***

The third essential Universal Law is the Law of Allowing

The application of the Law of Allowing will bring absolute freedom in
your life. You will feel free in your relationships to be who you are.
You will feel free in your career to do what you want. And you will feel
free in your life to create whatever you desire.

There are two ways to apply this law. First is the way to allow others
to be as they are, and second, is the way we allow (receive) from the
Universe to deliver all that we desire. Let's first look at allowing
others to be as they are.

"I am that which I am. While I am that which I am, I allow others to
be that which they are."

L et's say that again, only this time, say it out loud:

"I am that which I am.
While I am that which I am,
I allow others to be that which they are."

There are no two people that are the same, even though we can share many
similar traits. We all are very different and unique.

If you can accept, and not just tolerate another person's difference
and similarities, then you understand the Law of Allowing.

If you are out of alignment with the Law of Allowing you believe that
another person needs to think, feel, believe, and act according to how
you think they "should". I call this having Perfect Pictures
and this can cause great suffering in your life and your relationships.
This is the opposite of accepting another as they are. If you have a
deep rooted fear that unless everyone thinks, feels, believes, and acts
in a certain way, "your way" then they are somehow
"wrong", you then judge.

Judgment is a lower level emotion and based on the Law of Attraction,
you will attract more negative people, circumstances, and situations to
you. If you need to make everyone conform in order to feel good about
yourself and your world, you will never experience freedom. This is the
exact opposite of freedom. This is bondage. We can never get the rest of
the entire world to behave the way we think they "should". This
is why wars start.

Let's look at a possible example. If you are observing someone that
talks with their mouth full of food, and instead of allowing them to eat
the way they are, you find yourself getting disgusted and upset with
that person. You really want that person to change, or stop doing the
certain behavior (talking with their mouth full of food). You are afraid
that you will look badly as well. Instead of just allowing that person
to be as they are, you take it personally and let it affect your mood,
and ultimately robbing you of your freedom.

The Law of Allowing is one of the laws that govern our Universe. These
laws are eternal, they are forever. These laws are universal, which
means they are everywhere. They are absolute, whether you know they are
or not. They exist whether you accept they exist or not. They influence
your life, whether you know that they do, or not.

When we desire something to manifest from the Universe, and we are
feeling negative emotions, we are blocking that creation from coming
into manifestation. It is our negative emotions that holds us a part
from it. When we release our resistance, we are back in the state of
allowing and all the abundance, freedom, joy, success, prosperity,
wealth, happiness (you name it) can flow to us.

C an you see how all the Essential Universal Laws work together? It is
designed that way. To learn only one law is a good start, but it is
knowing and applying all of them that will give you the life of your
dreams, if you allow it.

I've noticed that in the almost 14 years I've been a Christian, whenever a situation arises that is more than I think I can handle, I open the Bible and the words I need are right there.

Lately, I've been back at church and often too the sermon is just what I need to hear.

It's good having fellowship with other Christians. Keeps me accountable and in check.

I ventured forth on my own for a few years and was led astray from the path to God. The path made clear by Christ. I relied on someone else and on my own "strength".

Big mistake. Thanks be to God for his patience with me.

Peter is one of my all time favorite people in the Bible. If he can finally get it, there is always hope for me.

"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety nine on the hills and go look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell youi the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost."

Matt. 18: 12-14

Doug, I just found this thread.

Gina, I really like your last post. Where is that from? The Universal Laws, I mean?

I really do believe that God created what we see around us, gave it a spin, and let it go. I don't think God gave us any rules to live by, nor did He give us a book that is His final word on anything.

But I do believe that God is intimately involved in everything we do, as we are "aspects" of God. I am God, expressing himself in yet another human form. My cat Buddy is God, expressing Himself as yet another living being. God is Life.

I also believe that each of us are spiritual beings temporarily living a human lifetime in a physical body, by our own choice and design. We make this choice with God's complete aprroval, and the understanding that we will never be judged or punished for anything done here, except for the judgment and punish we face here. What happens in the physical realm stays in the physical realm, so to speak.

I believe each of us have "spirit guides" who know us intimately, who know what we came to achieve, and who help us every day. They make sure we meet the people we're supposed to meet, they do incredible things that we see as miracles, they pop thoughts into our heads at just the right moments. You can call them the Holy Spirit, God, your conscience, or whatever, but I do believe we all have helpers and unseen friends.

This is the faith that sustains me and gets me through the hard times you describe, Doug. (And believe me, I've seen my share.) I know that I am living this life by my own choice. God will never judge me. I can make any choice I want, and He will still love me just as much. I know that He wants me to grown and become more like Him, and He will help me with that in any way I allow it. He will give me opportunities to practice patience. He will give me chances to forgive, or to judge. But He will never judge me based on those choices. I am here to learn, and He has promised to help.

The way He helps is through a system of "laws" that govern the Univers, the laws gina mentions. The Universe only knows one thing, and that is to allow us to create any reality we wish for in this physical realm. Our desires begin with a single thought, and with that thought, wheels begin to turn and doors begin to open. The Universe has no choice but to grant our desires. When we verbalize our thoughts, things beging to happen. When we take physical steps to make our desires come true, there are things going on behind the scenes that we have no control over, unless our thoughts and actions change, and then the process behind the scenes changes, too. When we decide, "This will never work. We are doomed," and say those words, the Universe will make that reality happen, too.

I used to spend a lot of time worrying about my situation, wondering how God could allow such a thing, wondering if I'd done something to offend Him, wondering if "The Devil" was somehow involved in all this. God pointed me toward the light, which in that case was that all my worrying and negative thoughts were creating a reality which was not the one I wanted.

He also showed me that at any given moment, I have every single thing I need. Period. He has provided everything, and I lack nothing. He is always there for me, as the Universal Laws are always in effect. Life is Change, and we are constantly creating the reality we see around us. We can do it consciously, or unconsciously.

I highly recommend the movie What The Bleep do We Know.

Thanks for starting this thread, Doug. I hope you know I'm not trying to prove I'm right about anything, or being argumentative. The things I write in these spiritual threads is my witness, my story about what God has done in my life. He began by teaching me truths using the Bible, in church and before that in Baptist Sunday School. That is where I came to know Jesus. But God has also shown me I have nothing to fear from Him, no matter what I believe about Jesus, and that I am free to be whatever I want to be in this life. That's a message I think is worth spreading.

greetings bretheren.

I've noticed that many of the discussions that go on here at this website, as well as out in the world, are talked about in the bible. How there'd be unbeleivers, divisions, those who offer their personal slant, those who pick and choose to fit their interpretation, on and on. I said it before and I stand firmly by it...some beleive, some don't. It's been foretold. Every angle has been covered. It's not for me to dispel truths from the bible, only to follow the blueprint, which is to my benefit and edification.

sidenote: I hope I can keep holy the Sabbath if the Patriots turn the ball over today...

btw, I always enjoy Allen's posts too. Those N'awlins updates were fantastic !! Good on ya bro. Ya did good.

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. one of them, a teacher of the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?'
Jesus replied," ' Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Does anyone else here receive the little books "Our Daily Bread"? I used to get these from a company I worked with and have always found what I needed. Just now I thought of pulling it up on the net and look what I found, once again something needed at this time.

In late January 1956, during the tense days of the Montgomery Boycott, civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. could not sleep. A threatening phone call had terrified him. So he prayed, “I am here taking a stand for what I believe is right. But Lord, I must confess that I’m weak now, I’m faltering. I’m losing my courage. Now, I am afraid. . . . The people are looking to me for leadership, and if I stand before them without strength and courage, they too will falter. I am at the end of my powers. . . . I can’t face it alone.”

Dr. King later wrote, “At that moment I experienced the presence of the Divine as I never experienced Him before. It seemed as though I could hear the quiet assurance of an inner voice saying, ‘Stand up for righteousness, stand up for truth; and God will be at your side forever.’ Almost at once my fears began to go. My uncertainty disappeared. I was ready to face anything.”

The rest is history. Dr. King wanted to see people of all colors free of the damage done by racism and prejudice.

If we face opposition when we’re trying to do what’s right, we too must cry out to the Lord. He alone is our “rock of refuge, a fortress of defense” (Ps. 31:2). He is our reliable source of strength and protection. —David C. Egner

Lord, help me stand upon Your rock of Truth
And never trust myself to sinking sand;
Whenever I am faced with evil powers,
I’ll call upon Your strong and mighty hand. —Hess

When we trust the power of God, we experience peace, not panic.

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afriad?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"
