Well.....got a call today from my Dr. after getting annual bloodwork, including my first PSA test. They are refering me to a urologist becuase my PSA level is 5.6, normal range is 0-4. Some quick research says it could be nothing, could be something. Here's hoping its nothing. Kind of unnerving just to consider the posibilities...especially with my kids being so young.

"Surely God is my help,
the Lord is the one who sustains me."

Ps. 54:4

That day, when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side."
Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him."

Mark 4:35-41

Thanks Otie. Off to the Doc Monday. I've decided I'm not gonna let it be a big deal either way. I can't control what happens, only my attitude and how I deal with it.

Hey, thanks Ruth, but really, I'm not sick. Feelin' fine, life is good. Just an elevated PSA test, no big deal, at least not at this time. I'll know more Monday. I'll still take all the prayers I can get though, I need them!

Well, went to the Urologist today, and he didn't like what he found. So now I have to get a biopsy. This really wasn't what I was hoping for, but it is what it is. Doc said for someone my age (51) to have the elevated PSA I do that the odds are about 30% that it could be cancer. Which means a 70% chance that it's not. So it's on to the biopsy to find out for sure. Still could be nothing but a case of prostatitiis, which at this point would be nice. Interesting place to find one's self, to say the least.

"O my strength, I watch for you;
you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God."

"When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.'
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Things keep getting more and more interesting. Got my scond PSA result back, it was elevated over the first one, so no fluke there. Will have to go through with the biopsy. And my wife just got a call about her mammogram, they want to do some more tests on her. She is only 43. Neither one of us has any history of this kind of stuff in our family. Still could be much ado about nothing, but it does shake your world. I find muyself mentally preparing to leave this world, and it gives me a whole new perspective on God and my relationship with him, and a certain peace about everything that is different from anything I've known before. Of course, I hope this all turns out to be nothing, but today all I feel is peace.

"Sir", the woman said, "You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well, and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?"
Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up into eternal life."

John 4:11-14

I'm beginning to remember something I used to know and forgot; there is no person, no human being on this planet, who can bring peace to this earth, or peace to any one of us as individuals. We have to choose that peace, and that means giving up something. That something is insisting on our own way. That something is being angry with each other and keeping track of the wrongs of others rather than being forgiving and seeking forgiveness. That something is impatience, rudeness, envy; stretching, bending, and distorting the truth to fit our needs. That something is boastfulness and self serving pride. That something is loss of trust and hope. Only God can move in us and allow us to give up those things, to truly be free of them and at peace.

"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put away childish things. Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."

I Cor. 13: 8-12

On a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I asked her for salvation and she gave me a lethal dose
I offered up my innocence and got repaid with scorn
"Come in" she said, "I'll give 'ya shelter from the storm."

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him."
So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, seperate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from scripture that Jesus had risen from the dead).
Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"
"They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him." At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
"Woman,", he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking it was the gardner, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."
Jesus said to her, "Mary."
She turned toward him and cried out, "Teacher!"
Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."
Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her.

John 20: 1-18

Happy Easter everybody.
