But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these.

2Timothy 3:1-5

For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

GIVE THANKS , WITH A GRATEFUL HEART
GIVE THANKS , TO THE HOLY ONE
GIVE THANKS , FOR HE'S GIVEN JESUS CHRIST, HIS SON

AND NOW LET THE WEAK SAY , I AM STRONG
LET THE POOR SAY , I AM RICH
BECAUSE OF WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE , FOR US

Give thanks !

What would I have left if God took away from me today everything I didn't thank him for yesterday?

And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected as regards the faith. But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, as also that of those two came to be. But you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all, the Lord delivered me!

And indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them; and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom; preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths.
But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

2Timothy 4:3-5

"...half hearted people get in the way..."

a quote I heard last night in reference to rolling up our sleeves and doing God's work.

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

2Timothy 4:6-8

after getting home yesterday following my third angio/STENT procedure Wednesday night, my heart started hurting again right after my last post here, the above verse has some pretty special meaning to me, as it should to all believers. He comes like a thief in the night so be on guard, be prepared. I get a little disappointed some times, a little scared that at 56 with 2 little grandkids I might not see tomorrow...but then I think, I will see an endless wonder of tomorrow's and it puts me at ease.

quote:
Keeping you in our prayers brother

and you and yours are in mine, my brother.

as Paul mentions a few people from 4:9 to 4:22, some in the light, some not and thus closes out 2Timothy, except for one verse that I'll post, after this we'll move on to some quotes from our Lord and Savior taken from Matthew.

The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

as I've been in and out of the hospital the last three weeks or so, the ol' noggin' isn't working quite right, not that it ever did all that much anyway and like we did last year if I recall, which again, is a mystery, let's instead turn to Luke this time of year and celebrate our Savior's birth...

...And his (John the Baptist) father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying: "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people..."

Luke 1:67-68

"And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of David His servant---
As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old---
'Salvation from our enemies, And from the hand of all who hate us'
To show mercy toward our fathers,
And to remember His holy covenant..."

Luke 2:69-72

The oath which He swore to Abraham our father,
To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days...

"And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on before the Lord to prepare His ways; To give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins, Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise from on high shall visit us, To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace".

Luke 1: 76-79

And if I pass this way again you can rest assured
I'll always do my best for her on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death and men who are fighting to be warm
"Come in" she said
"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone went to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, , and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
