Got close.
I saw a critics choices for top 10 in some airline magazine and they had one of the KiSS lives as #1...I nearly puked. Didn't even have Fillmore in his top live LPs.

I'm glad alot of overlooked bands made the list like Johnny Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, UFO, Foghat, Rainbow and Deep Purple... I have 26 of the fan picked list, I guess I'll be buying some more live material.

The first record I ever bought made the list Foghat Live.

Kiss?

No "David Live" (bowie) or Roxy Music "Viva"

the critics must be smoking something they found in an old LP cover.

I know Kiss has a lot of fans.....

But I never got into them..at all.

Does not mean their no good...just not for me.

Suprised at how high they were ranked.

I was glad to see Johnny Winter And Live in the top fans 50 also.
I think Deep Purple Made In Japan is an excellent live LP...but to me there is ABB Live At Fillmore then you can do your top 50 list. Fillmore is in a class by itself. To me nothing else is even in the same book.

Nothing in the class of LAFE...nothing close. But there are some notables...
Johnny inter 'Live' is good, so is Skynrd, 'One more for the road', and how about
'Left Coast Live' from Wet Willie. The MTB 'Where We all Belong' will always be a classic.
SRV 'Live in Austin' is a great one too. There are more but I cant remember much today....

Personally, I would've liked to see Wet Willie's Drippin' Wet and the Capricorn Rhythm Section Live at 2nd Street Music Hall listed.

Amen, brother! Been listening to both on vinyl all weekend. I have several copies of LAFE on vinyl, but just got Left Coast Live on vinyl from Santa! Love it! "Lucy was in Trouble" is absolutely amazing!

I think those lists are just made up. The odds of the two having the exact same albums is so slim. Some were not the biggest sellers and to end up on both lists?

SPDB's mention of SRV Live in Austin - I think I have that DVD somewhere - reminded me of Susan Tedeschi's Live in Austin, one of my favorite live discs by any artist. IMO, it's a great overview of her talents. I listen to it regularly.

Kiss Alive is actually one of my fave live albums, though I'd rank it far below LAFE and Live at Leeds. Great crunchy riffs, catchy licks, memorable hooks, punky energy, utterly Spinal Tap stage banter. I'm not surprised to see it ranked so high as it was indeed a huge 70s hit, the one that really put them on the map, right around the time that live albums from Frampton and Cheap Trick also really cemented those bands' success.

The 1970s were a great decade for live albums. I fail to get as excited about many of the live 1980s albums.

As far as the rest of that list, I was surprised to the see the somewhat recent Black Sabbath live reunion album in there - I would take LIve Evil or even the ragged Live at Last over it easily - and while I am judging them without hearing them, I do not ever want to hear what those Journey, REO, and Supertramp live albums are all about (I do know that REO's guitarist has some nice sounds, but still....). And I'd take the Paul DIanno era Maiden Japan over Live After Death, even if the latte is three times as long.

Funny that Jim mentions Kiss Alive, Frampton Comes Alive and Cheap Trick all in the same sentence as all three are basically studio albums. Not just touched up in the studio but almost entirely recorded there. I agree that all three put those artists on the map.

Some selections such as Black sabbath reunion are why I think these lists are made up. It did not sell well enough for that many to have an opinion on it. At least not to rank it up against so many that sold much more. One sabbath fan voted hundreds of times.

Plus some albums being ranked in almost the same positions is rather questionable. No way some of these would get voted in by opinion polls. Also to get enough votes to match the CCR list? I say it was compiled by the same person.

Only one album on both lists that I don't own. REO Speedwagon. I have a few of their albums but not that one.

its all a matter of opinion as to what the best live album is anyways. i honeslty don't know what i think the best live album is. since i have no opinion at this moment "live at the fillmore" will get my vote but it easily could be something by the grateful dead or another allman brothers live album or something by the rolling stones
