a possible tornado hit the Georgia dome during the overtime during the Mississippi St Alabama game. Part of the roof is torn and the game(s) have been delayed.

The video of the roof that they keep showing during the delay is something

They just said the outside looks like a war zone with windows broken and such

I was driving about 45 minutes ago and listening to the Bama game on the radio...You could hear the roar, like thunder. They said the roof was buckling, debris was falling, and the scoreboard was swaying...

They just said that windows are broken at the World Congress Center and that it hit CNN.

The game is going to resume in about 5 minutes

Fortunately, the storm missed by little suburb, but many were not so lucky. It was really bad in downtown Atlanta and east of Atlanta, out near my parents. They're okay but surrounding areas were hit hard. It looks like a war zone in downtown Atlanta. Prayers for all those in the path of the storm.

I saw the goddamn whole thing! I was downtown ATL at a place called Thrive. It was unbelieveable. I've never seen that much damage ever. 1 minute of chaos. It was crazy.

I'm not a religous man, nor do I believe in god. But if you and you where in downtown Atlanta, you saw the rath of god.

I was watching it, my first thought when the "roar" could be heard was that some of the seats were collapsing or something, then the debris started blowing around.

this just posted on ESPN site.....tourney to be moved to GA Tech, which holds 9100 (good luck ticketholders!), with one of the teams to play twice in one day, in order to "catch up".

My brother was spared, in Vinings. Says town is a mess.

One is moving through Etowah Co. now, several miles south of my house. Some of the family is in the path, see GB post.

I slept through the evening storm and woke up to the morning storm. The tornado looks like it hit the entertainment area of Atlanta, right at the CNN Center,Georgia Dome,Phillips Arena, Centennial Park, Georgia Aquarium. CNN probably had it's offices rocked.

All ok here, but I see more is on the way.

Hope Brent is doing well in Alabama.

Just spoke to Brent. He's OK. He said he has a few limbs down, no trees down, a lot of water in the yard and his power's been out since 4AM. I told him about the reports of people trapped in buildings in Oneonta and he said he was going to jump in the truck and head down and see if he could help. Going to check in with Lefty again soon.

My neighbor that lives across the street told me that he had been sitting in his 'computer room' when he kept seeing these flashes of light outside. He went outside, everything was nice, stars everywhere, no clouds. He looked north and saw this jet black sky moving east along I-20's area with hundreds of flashes of lightning and thunder. He thought WTF? looking up, all was stars and clear as a bell. Atlanta took a punch.

Yikes....here's the latest from ajc.com:

"The latest developments:

— At least two people were dead in the Rockmart area and one person critically injured when a tornado touched down early this afternoon, said Amber Frady of Polk County EMS.

“We’re trying to get people out there to see if there are more,” she said."

My son is a student at Georgia Tech, but luckily he and some friends left town last night around 6 because next week is their Spring Break. The only thing I'm worried about it that they went to North Georgia to go hiking....can't reach him by cell phone. I think (and pray) that they are not in the path of today's storms. Please pray for them!

I'm glad everyone on here is safe. So far, so good in Macon.

Laura Jane

Thank you! Chris, I'm glad you are safe! Having seen the footage this morning, I can't imagine witnessing the destruction.
