I hate to create a thread about this....

But its bugging me really bad...

I do a little trading here and there, some B&P's too. What I do most is try to send more than is expected in my packages. Now I can't say I have done this for everyone, I wish I could..but sometimes I run out of time and disc...or the money to buy them. I don't give the freebies for self gratification...I like the thought of someone expecting 2 disc...and getting 4,6,,8 or whatever and being suprised. That makes me really happy, just like Christmas when I buy my folks as many extra's that I can afford. I got that from my Hero..my Grandad who is no longer with us.

I will cut with rambling and get to the point.........

I have been called out for sending "Trash" to people by a familiar source(Deano) who is well known for doing so. " My stuff is nothing but garbage that is full of pops and skips".

If that is true..then it makes me really sad to think that instead of bringing joy to someone, i'm sending JUNK. I don't have a PC...I use a AIWA dual tray stand alone burner. I have burned over at least 800 disc with it.

So i'm asking you folks that have ever gotten anything bad from me to let me know here or through a private message. That way if I hear a lot of complaints..then I know it's true and to stop doing so...simple as that...why would I want to send bad stuff out..but you don't know unless you ask.

I have gotten a very few shows with any pops or skips..and I would never hurt anyones feelings by calling them out in these forums. I have ask someone who sent me some great shows to please make me another disc for the fact that I love it, but it skips and I want to enjoy a good disc. Then they either replied that their disc had it too or that they would send me another one. I never felt anger or wanted to make them feel bad.

Well I will shut up now...I would appreciate your honesty......I make a fool out of myself enough here without sending out "Garbage" to folks I consider my friends.

Kenny

I think now I understand how Clay felt..he works hard to make folks happy too...a lot of you do.

Kenny,

I have gotten quite a few discs from you, never any problems. I think you are an pretty good fella in my book, trade with you anytime.

I too have got quite a few shows in the 7 or 8 years I have been trading cdrs that have pops, skips, gaps and the labels peeling off. But I have never taken anybody to the mat for it. And never tried to embarass anyone in public over something like cdrs. I mean, this is for fun and they cost about 50 cents apiece.

Tell whoever is giving you a hard time about this to get a life.

You know what, people getting free shows shouldn't complain. If they don't like them or have 'em already, either toss 'em or pass them on to someone else. It was FREE - designed to try and make you happy. If free music can't make you happy, then maybe you should take a break from trading and gather your thoughts as you have other issues. To call someone out for sending free stuff that may have pops and skips is not cool imho...

Kenny,...I think you're doing fine brother. I for one appreciate every show i've ever recieved from everyone here. I've kinda backed off lately with trades because I feel some people don't really appreciate them. I am always thrilled to death to get a package in the mail, and always reply to that person for sending me the shows. I would say that probably 25% of the shows I send out, I don't hear from the people I sent them to, and I think that's just rude. There has been a couple times where I didn't know who the show came from, so it was hard to thank that person, but it's just commom decency(sp) to acknowledge the generosity of those sending you a show. I do hope that the shows i've sent out are all okay.....Neil

Kenny,

It figures Dean is around again. Saw some of his posts.... the post about Frank is rather amusing, but quite disturbing.

Don't let it get to ya. If somebody don't like what you have/give, they can stick those cdrs up where the sun don't shine.

Best,

Nick

You're absolutely right Neil! At the very least, you should tell the person the show came in and thank them for the trade or BnP. Not sure why people don't do this....most do, no doubt, but there's a few that think that it's their right to get these shows...

As far as ODR goes, your generosity is fantastic....keep it up

Kenny, I appreciate every show I've gotten from you.
I don't think anyone has a professional studio in their basement. ( well maybe Capt Skip)
Just keep on spreadin' the tunes Bro.

Some folks do get carried away. Don't get greedy (although it never hurts to ask). It's a blank & postage for cryin' out loud.

And make sure to FOLLOW instructions. Can't stress this enough. It makes things that much easier for the trip to the post office. It's the obligation of the person to get a grasp on what to do with a B&P.

And enjoy the music. If it gets to be like work, take a break.

I do wonder if Dean enjoys ANY shows that he owns. How do you enjoy the show when you pick it apart with quality, media, & blah blah blah?

I appreciate it guys, that tells me what I wanted to know and hear

I did not do this for a pat on the back......

I just hated to think I was sending subpar stuff out...that kinda defeats the purpose of it all.......

I will say that it feels good to hear good things.....

But no one else has to reply...unless they have a complaint !

I know many of you have been very good to me....you should see me when I get home...I go straight from the car to the mailbox and when I have packages...i'm smiling all the way in the house.

The trading and stuff that I learned from here is one of the brightest spots of my life in the last year....Great Friends and Great Music...can't ask for much more....well you can..but I'm a music freak and thats enough for me ...LoL.

ODR, Twist one as big as my leg, Hit it for me several times and tell anyone that don't like what you send them to shove it up their a$$ sideways!

Remember this, Most people are takers and talkers.......It's rare these days that I even get so much as a kiss my a$$ after sending some stuff just because I want to. So I have stoped doing it, Except for a few, And the few know who they are.

All I ever receive from ODR is junk, trash, pops and skips. I tried to be his friend, his buddy and send him a couple of Skynyrd shows but all he wants to do is ridicule me and talk about my mother. I hate him a and everyone else too. I burn only the best and expect the same out of everyone else..........I have burned over 650,000 shows since I have no job and am living at home. ~~~~~~~~~~^^^^^^^^^Man, what a nasty nightmare. Guess I better stop sleeping at work.

Kenny, don't lose a minutes sleep over it. You know who trades and who just snaps them up but very rarely reoffer them. Jok'em if the can't take a f*ck!

oh man that hurts. while i do recoginze Tattoo Neil's handwriting on my disks and most times i can thank him, 9 out of 10 envelopes i get only have a return address on them.

While i do know quite a few names now that i've been doing this longer, it is really difficult to figure out what the screen names are from that to PM them.

So my only point about that whole 'thanking' thing is that i wish i could become a little more efficient at thanking all you fine people for hooking me the hell up. I certainly don't feel it is my right - although i can completely relate.

Most times, i get the mail, tear out the cd, run right to my player and forget where it came from. If there is a note (which i ALWAYS include in my return B&P's) i thank them. So please don't consider me rude if you have not been personally thanked by me. perhaps we could create a standard that says "Please send me your screen name too"

now, about ODR - Kenny, i had the same problem with some guy who actually had me send him out a new disk for 2 digi-pops in a song that most people skip over anyway. After he got replacement and was still complaining, i burned him another copy (the third one), and asked him polietely not to bother me about it anymore. he flamed the crap out of me, but oh well - i don't bother with that person any more (NOTE: IT WAS A PERSON FROM THE PHILZONE). Don't let the bastards get you down! the rest of us really appreciate this stuff. Apparently, there are those amoung us that are completely anal rentitive about their music. Whatever. Does a freaking pop matter that much? Hell no. if you want clear sound, go out and buy they studio version.

and THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HOOKED ME UP!!!!!
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

:0 love you guys

I try to thank everyone that sends me something. But I'm sure that on days where I have a few shows in the mailbox, someone gets slighted. If I didn't thank you I'm sorry for the slight.

Kenny- I know you said no more posts were necessary on this, but sorry I can't resist this one.

First- I do have a problem. I get annoyed now when we do a trade or beep or something, and I don't see anything extra in it from you...what gives?

All I really have to say on this matter that is first, the "fun" part of all of this for me is getting music that I enjoy listening to, and a bonus has been to trip across certain people who enjoy it as well, and make it fun to do. Kenny is one of those people- I really don't know him from a hole in the wall, but we have had multiple trades and stuff, PM's just joking around etc. and I really enjoy that. Kenny isn't the only one (fortunately, right Kenny?)...there are many fine people on this website, too numerous to name. I do find it puzzling however, when one person, namely Dean seems to cause such havoc. He is one sick voice out there in webland. The only thing to do with someone like that is simply ignore him. He is now posting all sorts of garbage over on Dickey's site, trashing Kenny and Frank, etc. and people are responding to him. That doesn't work, unless he is banned from the site. But the point is, don't let a few get to you. To lose folks like Clay and others is not necessary, and once you get going on trading and stuff, you really get to know and work with certain folks and it is a pleasure!!

Anyway, don't want to ramble too much...but a couple of other things. Neil, my brother from Queens- thanks for everything you sent me and everything you will send me (now I got him covered)...

...and just for the spirit of it, let me throw out a beep here for anyone who has responded to Kenny's post, or responds after this...of a choice of two show...will take up to ten

Allmans 6/24/96- one smoking 96 show

Dead 8/14/71- this one is for Dean...because it has a flaw in Cumberland Blues (a screech from a tape change) which lasts two seconds...but this is one mega early Dead show, SBD with at least an A sound. The big deal with this show is Phil Lesh is real high in the mix, and he is mind blowing. If you like listening to great bass players, this is the Dead show to get. Anyway...post here send me a pm, and we can stop at ten...

Had to add my voice here in a big way. The act of you sending a free, unsolicited show to anyone should be acknowledged with a big gracious THANK YOU ....(Period). Someone has done something nice for you without being asked.

If you are so ungrateful and openly post a complaint (then I second the sentiment above exactly) YOU CAN SHOVE IT UP @@@@@@@@ xxxxx.....

Politeness dictates that a person does not openly post a private message on a public board.

Directly to ODR, please do not feel one bit disappointed or discouraged or hurt by maybe one or two ASS-WIPES who see fit to crap on your kind gesture. I hope I speak for everyone out there who has ever received a surprise unexpected show...and say a big THANK YOU......

Hey even if you do not like the show, be big enough and acknowledge the kindness and generosity behind the action.....Ungrateful SOD......

There......

B

Don't get me wrong folks, i'm not pointing my finger at anyone in particular, just saying. Jonesy & Linnie,....You two are great in my book, as is Clay, who is almost too generous. For the most part, everyone has been great, but when I don't hear from a person, I start to wonder if they got my package or not, that's all. Thankyou's to everyone here. Peace,...Neil
