Why is it that these gigs are becoming like London buses ... you stand around waiting for ages and then three come at once

Fri 23rd May I am going to see Robin Trower at the Astoria2 ... so that pretty much rules out the Terry Reid / Mick Taylor gig ...

Wed 9th July I am going to see the Hamsters in Reading followed by Little Feat at Indigo2 on Fri 11th July, so that pretty much rules out the "Doors" gig

Anyone else going to Trower and / or Little Feat ?

I've got my Little Feat ticket, Colin.

May look into Trower too.

Or would that mean three shows in a week?!!!!

I wanted to go to the "Doors" NYE show a couple of year ago but prices were silly (75 +). Tickets now are 27.50 + the usual add-ons.

I'll be at Trower, Colin. Also going to;
Jason and the Scorchers-Forum, Thursday
Dan Baird, Quireboys-Borderline, 25th May
Springsteen- Emirates Stadium, 30th May

Anybody thinking of going to see Neil Young at the Hop Farm Festival near Tunbridge Wells on 6th July?
BTW.I heard a fairly substantiated rumour that Mick Taylor had or was planning to pull out of the Borderline shows as he has chronic stage fright

Geordielad, your post just cost me 115 quid , .................... just looked and ended up buying tix for that festival .... Neil Young, My Morning Kacket ................. I had my card out like a gunslinger Cheers for the heads up See you there if you are going

Didn't buy a ticket yet Dave but I'm definately going. I'm a big MMJ fan. Seen them a few times and they have always been excellent. A friend has told me he can most likely get me on the guest list for this so I'm holding off on buying a ticket........ Of course there's always the risk that this falls through and the gig sells out! 30,000 capacity tho' so should be ok.

He's got his own show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (with Reid, Mitch Mitchell, Colin Allen and others) on 5 May, so that will cancel first if your source is accurate.

Hmm, didn't know about that Gordon. Just had a look at his website and nothing negative re. live shows there. Maybe I've been misinformed.

Hey hippy 69 what type of music do you guys play? Or is that a stupid question?

I presume an ABB/derek trucks/southern rock type vibe......

It'll be be great to see you but we're definitely not ABB/derek trucks/southern rock. We're more dark country and bluegrass. Kinda like Steve Earle meets the Driveby Truckers gone acoustic with all solos either slide dobro or mandolin. We call it whiskey drinking renegade country done southern style.

Take a listen at snakeoilrattlers.co.uk or myspace.com/snakeoilrattlers . We're on at half eight.

Would love to join you for the Feat gig. I'm holding off buying Feat tix as they're playing 2 Festival gigs locally (Trowbridge Pump Fest and Womad), but I'm reluctant to pay 40 for a shorter "festival set" so I'm hoping for some additional UK dates over this way. (not to mention I'm broke having just returned from Israel on holiday!)

Hey Jim ... if getting home from London late at night isn't possible and you don't want the expense of staying overnight in an Hotel ... you are welcome to stay with me and Jan in Reading after the gig?

Or me (I'm near your usual stop-off at Osterley).

I would have invited you for the Neil Young gig but I read your post after the show!

Thanks, Guys - might just take one of you up on that, if they don't come up with a local gig in the next couple of weeks. Think its likely to sell out?

I would think so, Jim.

Tickets are well priced compared to some Indigo2 shows - Chick Corea 45-70.*

I also see that the Little Feat show is all seated. The only other time I have been - Lucinda Williams - it was standing downstairs.

* Actually, I take that back. It's Return to Forever with Corea, Stanley Clarke and Al di Meola!

Only VIP packages at 115-170 left.

Jim - I think Hot Tuna are playing a acoustic set at WOMAD if that influences you!

No UK dates on their website yet and not listed on the WOMAD but they are mentioned in Time Out this week (and they are in Europe around that time).

Sorry guys, Hot Tuna are not playing WOMAD this year. Met with Joma at Merlefest last month and whilst he was keen to do so, it did not fit in with their Italian dates. I suspect he simply prefers a good plate of pasta!

If any of you are jazz fusion fans you might like to know the Yellowjackets have just released an album with the mighty Mike Stern on guitar! I think they're playing at Ronnie's in October.
(they were meant to be playing at the IndigoO2 in July but that seems cancelled, shame.

Were you at the Borderline last night Gordon? I ended up going. Cracking show it was too! Never heard anything by Terry Reid before but I'll definitely be investigating his back catalogue.
Mick Taylor was a no-show though due to "illness"
So, Trower on Friday, T.R. last night and Quireboys/Dan Baird tonight..... Bit of a weekend of Rock!!!

Yes, I was there, Keith. I looked out for people but I obviously missed you.

You were right about Mick Taylor!!!

I hadn't heard anything much of Tery Reid's stuff but I loved his voice. I know you like your Country so some of it probably appealed more to you. Good little band of young New Yorkers.

It looks like Seeds of the Memory is the album to get. Shame it doesn't seem to be released in a budget, expanded version or maybe a "twofer" with River. A 40min CD these days seems like a positive rip off!
