And me, Gordon. Is this our Scots upbringing coming out? Not many bands/artists I'd pay 75 + bf to see and CSN ain't one of them!

I'm afraid Messrs Crosby & Nash don't cut it any more and charging those prices for two nights at the RAH is a hell of a golden handshake!

The more expensive tickets on offer were for the Logia boxes ... my Row 11 arena tickets were 71 including all fees ... and as both myself and Janet are big fans of CSN I didn't think that was too much to pay ...

With redundancy / early retirement looming at the end of this year I am determined to see as many old favourites as I can while I can still afford it ...

Good set by the Snakeoil Rattlers at the "legendary" 100 Club tonight.

Not sure about the drums, tbh. Drowned out the subtlety of the mandolin and lapsteel guitar.

Sadly, I didn't hang around beyond two numbers by Elias T Whatever. Heavy Metal rubbish.

Oh, and I bought a SR EP!!

PS Barry - What are the 100 Club dressing rooms like? As grim as you would expect?!!

You'll be happy that there's no drums on the EP. I too was expecting Elias T Hoth to be more southern since ASR champion them all the time. MelenHeadMan after them were more southern in a rock and roll way. Complete with girl backing singer.

Thanks for coming down though. The "dressing room" was about 3 feet wide with a big long mirror and loads of graffiti. I'll see if I can find a picture for you. Playing the harmonica there last night was a fulfillment of a 20 year old dream!

If you bored this weekend I'm playing a solo acoustic set (with a little help from Slim the Snakeoil Rattlers Mandolin player) at the Charlotte Street Blues Bar (74 Charlotte Street, London, W1T 4QH Tel: 0207 580 0113 www.charlottestblues.com) on Sunday 2nd May. It's free and there's a few other acts that'll be performing. The music starts at 7pm and I'm told I'm on around 8pm. If you need more convincing they sell Dixie beer and large plethora of American whiskies.

If you like rock & roll with a twang, revved up country with a high energy punk edge i can strongly recommend checking out Jason And The Scorchers. Saw them last night and it was a great show. Maybe only 50-60 people in attendance but they played as if it was a jam packed arena. They play a larger selection of their new cd entitled Halcyon Times (one of their best ever) and dig deep into their back catalogue. They really enjoyed themselves on stage and took plenty of time for their fans after the show. Guitarist Warner E. Hodges is currently also in Dan Baird's band. Dan Baird co-wrote a few of their new songs and also played on Halcyon Times.

Jason Ringenberg
Vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica

Warner E. Hodges
Lead guitar

Al Collins
Bass

Pontus Snibb
Drums, harmony vocals, acoustic guitar

I'll be seeing the Scorchers in London on Saturday. Maybe my alltime favourite live band. Was going to catch Barrys' gig last night but got lost in a post Toon match end of season beer frenzy!

I think you won't be disapointed by the Scorchers. I love their new cd and they are pretty happy with their effort as well. They really have a blast on stage and they are very approachable / fan friendly. I requested "Ocean Of Doubt" a few times and Jason said later on in the set that they got a request which they didn't play in a long time so he started looking for a specific harmonica in one of his guitar cases. The drummer and the bass player took five and Jason and Warren launched into "Ocean Of Doubt" which was so cool. They were very pleased with the response their new songs received and were very surprised so many people picked up the double vinyl release of "Halcyon Times" in stead of the cd digipack.

Have a great time!

Here's an odd one: Kreiger and Manzarek playing The Doors! Great!!!

But with the RPO?!

I don't remember The Doors using a lot of strings.

Anyway, Friday 16 July at the Shepherds Bush Empire. I'll be there.

Little Feat are back at the IndigO2 on August 18 (again?!!!).

Gillian Welch's other half, Dave Rawlings, is playing the Troxy Theatre (where?) on September 17. I expect Ms Welch will be there too. Old Crow Medicine Show support.

Early warning for Matt Schofield at The Borderline on 20 November.

Oh, and I'd tell you about the Kate McGarrigle tribute concert at the Festival Hall on 12 June with Emmylou Harris, Richard Thompson et al but I just bought the last ticket (seriously!!!).

Hello Colin,

Have a good time with Eric and Steve! I'm going sunday in Antwerp, Belgium. Looking forward to it. Judging from the Birmingham setlist they changed the setlist a bit and now
they do an accoustic "Layla". I love Clapton but never cared for that slow accoustic version but what the heck. Love the MSG dvd so i guess it's gonna be a joyful night of music.

cheers

Simon McBride is at Camden's Underworld 29th June.

More of us there are the fewer Camden trendies can get in and talk over the music...

Also, if not mentioned before, Sam Hare at Charlotte Street Blues on 2nd July...if you've not heard yet him take a listen on the 'Twin Guitar-tastic' thread...

Shavian - still no sign of tix for sale for Matt at the Borderline

Jeff Beck just announced an extra date for the Royal Albert Hall on the 27th of October. Got tickets but was just wondering if anyone can describe the view from the Loggia boxes? I was never in the Royal Albert Hall before. Thanks

The Loggia Boxes have an excellent view ... nearer the stage the better (but not too close) ... click on the link below to show the layout at RAH ...
