I'm with you Colin. Feenstra's venues are not that easy to get to even when you live in London!

Ditto. I'm with both of you. I was quite glad that a date hadn't been announced at one of the previous places Devon's played. None of them are going to further his career.

I'm holding out that he's going to play a double header with Skinny Molly at The 100 Club on Friday 15th October. That would be a great gig.

The Scala in Kings Cross would be a nice place for him to play. It's a lovely venue and not enough bands play there. The Bar Academy in Angel would suit him fine too. I recall that Rose Hill Drive packed that place out.

I'm going to the London show next Saturday. Make sure you catch the support, Aynsley Lister. Well worth a look if you haven't seen him before.

I saw Aynsley for the first time last night.

Good player and singer and good band too.

He's moving away from blues to a more rock sound, but well worth catching.

I really liked Ryan's previous CD and his support act for Neil Young i saw in 2008.
Would love to catch one of these shows (Amsterdam, Cologne or Brussels).

Did I fall asleep and miss 10 years' worth of inflation?

Eric Clapton at the Albert Hall - Stalls 240 - 300!!!

I'm limiting myself to small venues with prices under 20 these days.

Or free at the Charlotte Street Blues Bar jams. Much more fun.

Edit - these prices are Hospitality packages! I don't know what regular tickets cost (but expect it will around 100).

I'm heading to London for the Jeff Beck Gig on the 27th of October and was wondering if there were any good gigs, or bars to attend between the 26th and 29th of October? Particuallarly around the Bloomsbury area. Thanks in advance

Hey Hugh ... I was just joking ... my wife is half Welsh and I absolutely love Snowdonia and many other parts of your beautiful Country ...

Not a lot happening with the obvious exception of The Doobie Brothers at Hammersmith on 29th.

Bloomsbury is not very fertile territory! You can't go wrong with the Charlotte Street Blues Bar http://www.charlottestblues.com/category/live-blues-in-london/ .

Hugh - Further to Colin's own defence, I would point out that his original comment was a joke in response my previous observation that a Joe Bonamassa tour t-shirt listed "Cardiff, England"!

Nothing in this little sub-forum of ours should be taken too seriously!

And why did you dig this up from May 2008?!!!!

No disrespect intended to Mr Feenstra ... he does a very good job promoting lesser known bands at his venues ... but his venues are very difficult to get to for people who do not live locally making it nigh on impossible for me to get to mid-week gigs.

I do hope, therefore, that Devon is not tied into his venues and could play instead at venues more in the centre of London such as (say) the 100 Club / the Borderline ...

Feenstra has added a new venue in the City of London:

EC3 Live
9 Crosswall,
City of London,
London, EC3N 2JY

I have just noticed that Honeytribe's show at Chislehurst has been removed from the schedule!

Although still not central London ... at least that venue is just around the corner from Tower Hill and Aldgate Tube (subway) stations ... so I could potentially get to it by public transport ...

You're right it's not the west end but it's closer than either, Highbury, Angel, Shepherds Bush or Camden where we all happily travel to. It looks like a nice place and I look forward to seeing a band there. I notice it's not open weekends though. Since it looked Devon missed the boat in joining Skinny Molly at the 100 Club I reckon the best place for him would be the Charlotte St Blues. They've changed the management since I played there so not sure who to contact.

Don't forget that the Band of Heathens are playing an acoustic show at the Borderline. If you haven't heard of them they're a cross between the Band and Little Feat.

If he fancied competing against the after-work crowd who just go there for a chat & a drink & don't give a toss about the music then yes. Otherwise, the Borderline would be a much better bet.

Just seen Ian Hunter at the very impressive Bridgewater hall in Manchester absolutely fantastic show ,and I would recommend him to anybody such a strong body of work and for a guy in his 70's he still rocks.
