I live in metro Atlanta and am planning on going to Macon this Sunday to pay my respects. I've read a few posts and get the impression that there folks who have strong opinions regarding the graves, the fence, the plaque, the landscaping ... any advice for my first trip down?

Just go. Visit, be respectful, eat at the H&H, go visit the Music hall Of Fame- the Otis exhibit will close this year.

If possible go Saturday. That way you can go to H&H grab a bite and see Mama Louise. If Sunday is it, just go and pay your respects to two of the greatest! Rose Hill is a beautiful and special place, a great place for reflection.

LOL, TanDan.
If anyone messes with you, just DON'T mess back.
Also, don't touch anything, don't stay too long, pay your respects, say a prayer, allow yourself to receive the love that emanates from this place, try to feel the presence......it's there, for sure, it's always been there.
And definitely go visit Mama - don't miss the fried chicken, the peach cobbler, and the juke box. The walls speak for themselves.
Magic. All of it.
