Im thinking of making an essential Lynyrd Skynyrd CD on my own instead of buying one that has all there overkilled songs. So help out with good songs and please dont turn this into a debate about if the current band is good or anything like that. If u want to do that start your own thread

Track 1 will be
Mississippi Kid http://youtube.com/watch?v=7uve7Pbt5iU&feature=related

You must put the Ballad of Curtis Lowe on it.

Sweet Home Alabama....

From the all acoustic CD "Endangered Species"

I believe that's Ed King playing the lead.

I hope this doesn't draw any attention, but I can't get into Skynyrd.

LS is one of the premier bands, even yet today, that continues to carry the torch of the music we all love. Like em or not, they play some of the best music ever, short of the 'Bros. I think any song you find that Ronnie is on will be just great. Johnny does justice to quite a few on his own, but that would be a matter of opinion.
Give em all alisten. You wont be disappointed.

All of the above plus "Take Your Time". Kind of the simple man song equivalent to love.

One More Time.....great song, great lyrics....I like alot of the songs you don't hear much if at all on the radio.

Tuesday's Gone is another great great song. Live version from "One More From the Road" absolutely just blows the doors off.

The version of Free Bird which RVZ intros by way of tribute to the ABB -- "Gregg Allman -- Duane Allman -- Berry Oakley -- the Allman Brothers, the band from the south that I think got us here."
It's from Wales, in 1975 maybe -- he mentions Duane & Berry a couple of times

There's something about the "Gimme Back My Bullets" album that brings back great memories for me. Mid 70's I used to paint album cover art on the back of denim jackets.
I was painting my own Hendrix jacket in my parents basement for days and I just kept playing that Skynyrd album over and over and over while I painted.

Let me give you 2 post Ronnie. "Smokestack Lightning", and "Devil In A Bottle". They have the Skynyrd feel better than any newer songs they have put out. Dibs to those 2!
