I just heard 96 Tears from ? & The Mysterians on the radio for the first time in ages...what a great song. I love the funky 60s organ played throughout the tune. One of my favorite "One Hit Wonders"

That band is one of my favorites from the "Detroit Scene" of the late 60s I think he still plays on occasion

Man, those 60s "garage band" one hit wonders were some of the best records ever made! 96 Tears, Hang On Sloopy, We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet, Nobody But Me, etc. I guess you had to have an irresistable hit to break out of a local scene on to the charts.

I loved the Blues Magoos (Ain't got Nothing Yet), and would also add Black Is Black (Los Bravos?), Incense and Peppermints (Strawberry Alarm clock) to the list, and the list could go on and on...

Wolly Bully rocks for certain but the band were no one hitters. Ring Dang Doo, Ju JU Hand and Little Red Riding Hood followed. I loved their versions of old R+B songs that filled their albums.

I agree. 96 Tears is a great song, not to mention a great ol' Detroit rock 'n' roll song. I was suprised to see how many of the great people on here knew the band was a Detroit band. Detroit by way of Saginaw, if I remember correctly. I've always thought that this song would be a really cool cover for the Mule to pull out from time to time.

Love 96 Tears!

I'm a big fan of the 60's "Garage Sound"

One of my all time faves: Hey Little Girl by The Syndicate of Sound

If I am not mistaken about the identity, they also did one of the worst covers of Stormy Monday that I have ever heard.

Remember The Seeds? Pushin Too Hard, that was a very cool tune for it's time, check out a band called The Chesterfield Kings, they thrive on that era. Here's a nugget from the 80's, they're still alive and kickin.

Anyone remember the Stephen King movie "Cats Eye"? It was a trilogy starring a young Drew Barrymore. The "Quitters Anonymous" scene with James Woods, and the high voltage floor with the lady jumping around to "96 Tears" cracked me up!

I'm a big Stranglers fan, I was glad to see them do a cover. Not as good as the original, but not a bad cover either.

Did a good cover of "Walk on by"
