I pulled this excerpt off the Time Magazine site concerning Bill Clinton pushing for his wife to accept a Vice President position...man he can't wait to get back in the lspotlight can he?

Perhaps the knottiest question in the end will be this: If the vice presidency is not in Clinton's future, what role will she be permitted to play at the convention? She has earned by effort alone a chance to speak there. Several party officials believe she is likely to insist that her name be placed in nomination on the first ballot, opening up all the divisions once again. Whether and how Clinton and Obama can work their way through the terms of surrender will tell voters a lot about both of them. And it could help determine whether a Democrat is elected in November.

Don't think Obama will go for it, Hillary has proven she is a liar and cannot be trusted, plus her and Bill will try to over shadow the Prez, hog the limelight, etc .I am so sick of this pathetic election, echhh. Hey just thought of this: B.O.: Barack Obama ,B.O.: Berry Oakley, I'm gonna vote for the bass player.

That moron Harry Reid is not getting any younger. Hillary may be pushing forward to get some concessions, one of which may be a shot at the Senate President position. I doubt Reid will be getting a lot of votes in the future. The governorship of New York may be in play as well.

Reid is a major moron--he knows less about the internet than me

& since i hate most politicians,i feel obligated to take a swipe at the murdering dumbass bush

now,i gotta attack that phony liberal pelosi--a do nothing waste of time person (FUN!!)

& what's up with larry craig in the bathroom--if you're gay,fine--but get some class....like the democrat reformer spitzer--high prices, high class ladies, & high class hotels!!!

i hope i didn't leave anyone out--but,to me this is politics--back & forth,up & down & all around--to what end? the sport of arguing on this here WP seems kinda fun,but does anyone really ebver change anyone's mind? And,i never knew, but always hoped that the political differences don't hurt friendships...oh well, the above rant is just my frustration with noone involved in the presidential race taking the time to truly study the issues in depth--that would result in alot of responses like "i may be leaning in X direction at this time--but,frankly,these are extremely complex concerns...i can give ya an outline--but,i need time, now spent F/T running for pres.,to study the complex nuances of these problems & to look at both democratic & republican proposals & solutions & to consider expert advice on 3rd or 4th solutions...we can do this...but,not while running for pres. "

this is a fantasy scenario--an open minded pres. who really engages issues honestly & decisively & responds maturely--no instant cures or answers--but thoughtful & reasoned decisions--not owing the "party" anything--but,all 3 of the clown running are bought & owned by the corporate interests & they gotta give clearcut IMMEDIATE responses to the myriad changing complex problems we're ex[eriencing....but,all these interests want the status quo & the pols are part of it,absorbed into the bloodstream of the ever holy dollar & prisoners of our 21st century USA extremism--"i'm a conservative" "i'm a liberal" "i'm this" "i'm that".....well round & round we go till we all turn into butter

THIS RANT WAS BROUGHT TO YOU & APPROVED BY NONE OF THE CANDIDATES

Don't think she wants the VP slot, but nevertheless Hillary will get something, if for no other reason just to keep the party unity. With 28% of Democratic voters saying they don't intend to vote for Obama, keeping Hillary happy could make the difference in whether or not the Democrats take the White House this year. My guess is what she is going to insist on, is that the DNC change the rules on how it's Presidential primaries are run, and that in the next Presidential year (2012) that delegates get selected by primaries and not caucuses.

I predict a concession in about 2 wks, no VP and the 1st Supreme Ct opening goes to her. But I've been wrong before!

Hillary is not qualified for a Supreme Court nomination, and no doubt she wouldn't get past the confirmation hearings. Hillary doesn't have a JD, doesn't have a background in "constitutional law", never sat on a Federal Bench nor argue a case in a Federal Court, nor taught or written articles about constitutional law at a university level, not to mention that she "failed" her DC Bar Exam twice. In addition, for Obama to even promise such a thing in advance, which btw is unethical as nominees for a Supreme Court opening are only announced when a justice indicates that they're leaving the bench, would no doubt "energize" many Republicans and Independents and quite a number of Democrats to vote for McCain. Hate to say but Hariett Mier was more qualified for the Supreme Court that Hillary is, and we know how that went.

It sounds like the concession is in the works. Sen Obama called Sen Clinton after Puerto Rico yesterday and offered to meet. Sen Clinton is having a campaign get-together in NY later this week and invited staff to come to it or go home and await instructions. I think I'm looking good on my 2 week prediction above.

ABC News listed one of the possible deals as the Clinton campaign debt of $20MM being retired by Obama's campaign. This makes sense to me. I don't see a VP slot being offered or even sought by Sen Clinton, nor do I think she'll join an Obama administration. She is too valuable to the party as a Senator for this to pan out.

As one who voted for Sen Clinton in the primary, I am ready to support my party's nominee. I had misgivings about Sen Obama's experience level, but his campaign has been handled masterfully, defeating some of the best political minds of our generation, the Clintons, and this gives me comfort in his competence to face other issues. I also like that he has been talking to people like former Sen Sam Nunn on defense issues; as they say, the mark of an intelligent man is that he knows what he does not know.

Pass the Kool-aid, I'm ready for a sip!

I predict that she'll try to "broker" the convention by bringing up that Obama wasn't on the Michigan ballot, so he shouldn't get any votes (that's gonna be a stickler for the Dems for years to come).
I also predict that she won't go away quietly, and at the final balloon drop, the balloons will be filled with sewer gas, not air.

I'm guessing the senior leadership position in the Senate.....And given the Dems. could be looking at a landslide victory in November, that could mean substantial power if their majority grows as some are predicting. Also, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, the Governorship of New York is up for grabs in the not to distant future.

I don't think Obama has to promise her anything. The best thing he can do is ignore her totally, and turn his sights fully on McCain, and that is what he already seems to be doing. He doesn't have to get caught up in anything the Clinton camp pulls after he has 2118 delegates on his side. She won't have the huge news crews following her around after today. Everyone is going home after tonight, and she'll fall off the front page.

What she does after this is anyone's guess, and I agree with BigV, "who cares?"

This would be a terrible strategy. Remember how close the last two elections were? Obama needs to make nice with Clinton if he wants to win in Nov. Her 17MM voters will be watching how he handles it (and remember, she won the swing states of OH and FL). I expect him to deftly bring most Clinton voters into the fold, however.

Yes he needs to be very saavy on how he proceeds with Hiillary so as to not upset her contingency. It won't take much for a good chunk of them to bail out and go for McPaid.

He'll have to make peace with her before November, for sure. I imagine that staffers from both sides are already talking about how to work together to win in November.

But for now he doesn't need to get caught up in the circus that might be going on, and should just campaign against McCain. Hillary will be a part of the campaign for the White House in some form, but he's beat her fair and square, and doesn't owe her anything. He should be willing to offer something, though, and will have to if he wants to win in November.

I don't think she is qualified to be on the Supreme Court, and that would totally piss off the right. We don't need to go there. She can go back to the Senate, where she will have a lot more clout to work on things like health care. I think she would do better to stay and be a more and more powerful Senator, possibly taking up the reins that will someday be left by Ted Kennedy.

Be nice. She can go to hell.

If Obama names her his VP, he's is clearly off his rocker.
