Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad and Judas Priest. Four reasons I will never visit the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. It's a sham.

I'll add Chicago, and Stevie Ray Vaughan to the list above. If Freddie King hasn't made it, it may be hard for Stevie to make it. Their careers were very simular.

Chicago
The Doobie Brothers
Freddie King
Genesis
Heart
Joe Cocker
The Steve Miller Band
Stevie Ray Vaughan

These are the bands on your list that I feel qualify for the, R & R H .O .F.

I'm not necessarily a fan of these bands, just the ones I feel are deserving of the honor.

Just my .O2

stevie ray vaughan isn't even eligible yet to be inducted. your first single or album has to have been released at least 25 years ago. the inductees for the ballot are chosen halfway through the year. when the artists for the class of 2009 were picked SRV's first album wasn't 25 years old yet.

Quite a few I thought were already in the HOF. I have visited there once a couple of years back, but won't go back now. Who is in charge up there? Somebody needs to rattle their chain...............................Many on that list, but Three Dog Night. They should had been one of the first.

Personally, my axe to grind would be the following:
Marshall Tucker Band and both Caldwell Brothers individually
Little Feat, and Lowell george individually
The Charlie Daniels Band, and Charlie Daniels individually
John Prine as a songwriter

Texas Flood was released in 1983 , now I'm no rocket scientist but isn't 1983 + 25 = 2008 ? This is why the R&R HOF is a sham. If SRV is not deserving of a first ballot election then no one is IMO. This is one of the greatest guitar players EVER to sling an axe over his shoulder.

I can understand you wanting these bands to be in there but the R&R hall has some great R&R memorabilia. Where else are you going to see Duane's Les Pauls....Muddy Waters Tele......and John Lennon original lyrics all in one place?...I've been a couple of times.....Jerry's guitars, Jimi's guitars.....Sargent Pepper outfilts.......it's a lot of fun if you happen to be hanging around the Cleveland area

I understand the complaints that so many great artists have not been inducted. There are so many artists I am hoping for, yet haven't even been mentioned.

However, that doesn't mean that they will be out forever. I suppose to keep it interesting, some artists get inducted further on down the road. For example, Black Sabbath and Skynyrd, two ultra-influential bands were denied entry for years. (for what reason I don't know) Wheras Ozzy was outspoken in his disdain for the Hall, the guys in Skynyrd seemed more good natured, and less outspoken about the problem. Then, a few years back, both bands got in, at the same time.

So hopefully the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame voters will start to pick up the slack and start nominating those influential acts that need to be in there.

Duane Allman, individually.
For his work in the studio in support of so many artists.
And for his role in establishing a new genre of music through his band.
And for his role in the evolution of electric slide guitar.

jeff beck (a huge influence on SRV) is just now getting inducted in 2009. i'm not sure how the HOF works but since the ballots come out in the summer and texas flood could have been released later than the summer, i think SRV is elegible in 2009 for the class of 2010. not sure if thats how its works though

The HOF is run by Rolling Stone magazine (Jan Wienner). It is not about who is deserving - it is nothing but a musically political choice for the past several years.

This is what makes the HOF an absolute joke. It is nothing more than an ego stroke for people who want to be in today. OZZY & SABBATH should have been in years ago - but they have been purposely snubbed. He knows it is political so he doen't care less. Acts that care just are in need of an ego rub to validate their career.

If you can tour for 40 years successfully (for example) - who gives a crap if you are in the HOF run by Rolling Stone magazine.

The mag is nothing similiar to what it was twenty years ago. Same name in common, and that's it.

Linking RS with BRITNEY is about selling issues and ad revenues - not Rock & Roll. Last time I checked - she does not sing.

Look into auto-tune and tapes in both shows and in the studios.

Not sure I understand? So, there are some bands that aren't in yet, so you think it's a sham? What about all the bands that ARE in? Do they deserve it? I think it's great that there is a rock and roll hall of fame and if I'm ever in Cleveland, I'm definitely going to visit. Yes, Rolling Stone finally made it a reality because no one else ponied up the cash and had the desire to see it through. It's not just Jann Wenner who votes, just like it's not him who votes in the mag. So I'm confused as to what the problem is? Please, enlighten me.

Oh, and I think Rush should and will get in, just not yet. And I would like to see a working definition of "Rock" because some of the acts in already I wouldn't consider rock, nor would I consider Judas Priest or John Prine, not that I don't like either of them, but one is Metal and one is Folk. Is this the problem everyone is having?
