You know it ... you feel it..... he has the spirit of the Duane alive in his soul... he loved Duane... he named his son after him.... Only Dickey knows the truth.....

He has secret powers to morph himself into any of them...or the whole band.

I can go for that.

I`m very happy with the actual ABB lineup. For me it`s the best lineup since the original band.
lIt`s also the best Dickey Betts & Great Southern lineup ever . 2 different bands.
The past is gone...

If the past is gone.. Don't celebrate it... but then, it's just another way to SELL tickets...

Not without Dickey

on a side note... I am exhausted in this back and forth about DB and the ABB... truthfully, I am now at a point where I really hope he does not play with The Allman Brothers Band for an evening.... I think it's best if left alone.... I have hard feelings about this whole situation and I am just a fan, it was a dream I had once a long time ago when I joined on these sites to have them all together again ... I can't even imagine the magnitude of this on a personal level... egads man.....

I'll just keep on seeing DB & GS ... and that will leave more tickets for the current lovers of this A B B....

That is the most asinine thread title I have seen since I joined this forum.

No one person is the Allman Brothers, not even Duane!!!

They are a sum of their magical parts whether it be the original lineup or the current one. You are taking this to an embarrassing level now.

Our thread starter just signed up today.

He has ten posts, all of the "bring back Dickey" variety.

Dickey has a web site, OK?

Rainy, it's been ten years already, give it up and move on like most folks have.

I agree completely.

I've gone back and listened to my recordings from the Dickey/Warren lineup. 1st set, 2nd set, and soundboard bootlegs.

To my ears, the current lineup is MUCH closer to the sound and vibe of original lineup.

The Allman Brothers Band, in my view, is finishing up their legacy by coming "full circle" and ending their awesome run as close to the original group as possible...with the Warren/Derek guitar tandem, along with Gregg, Oteil, Butch and Jaimo.

And, as someone else noted, Dickey is currently at the peak of his Great Southern years.

Its all good.

Anyone know what President Obama's take is on all this? Maybe he can settle it once and for all. He did comment about the BCS. I'm a college football fan and I always play the ABB at my tailgate (some with Dickey and some without Dickey) so there's the connection. The President seems like a Rocker type so I'm sure he's enjoyed some ABB over the years.

Like I posted on another similar thread "The Road Goes On Forever!"

He is the "Brian Jones" who started it off and got them rolling.

It's a bird.

It's a plane

It's Super Dickey.

(No porn jokes please)

I think he was a bit more than Brian Jones. His sound and inspiration WERE the sound of the Allman Brothers. Jones began to be supplanted by 1964 as the leader of the Band.

It's Super Dickey.
