It changes from time to time.....I think now its the 35th anniversary of the Fillmore East, 3/13/06. They did the entire Fillmore album start to finish including "Whipping Post" before intermission and then came out with Mountain Jam. Chuck Levell sat in with them and of course ended the second set with an amazing "Jessica". A great great show.

the middle show at the Chiacao Theater in 02 or 03 - Butch actually talked about a year or so later. I almost sh!t myself when he mentioned it b/c I thought it was EPIC.

The 2nd best show is about a 25 show tie....

I'm sure anyone who was at Watkins Glen in '73 will consider that their favorite show. Perfect candidate for an archival release in my opinion.

I believe it was the last night of the 2001 Beacon Run ( if anyone can confirm but I know the show I speak of was 2001 ) , Chuck Levall sat in during the second set. Best Jessica I've ever heard Live from the band.

Yes, 3/25/01 is one of my all-time favorite shows. Chuck played on Loving You Too Long, Jessica, One Way Out, Statesboro Blues, All Night Train, Mountain Jam (with an Oteil/Chuck/Butch Little Martha in the middle) and Desdemona. Great night!

My first one July 1990 will always have a special spot in my heart.

8/20/06 Atlanta is probably my favorite too. Note my date of registration; I was desperate to find the IL that I did not but that night! Had to wait till Dec 06 to finally get it. Oteil & PM and DTB openers made it extra good.

3-18-06. Top to bottom ,the best ABB show I've ever seen.....they really stretched it out on Whippin' Post, did the very long version like the one on LAFE.

There have been a few posts about this show....a lot of Beacon vererans say it the best one they ever saw.

3 of the shows I attended stand out:
August 13, 1994 Great Woods- Dickey and Warren were absolutely on fire that night.
August 13, 2006 Saratoga Springs- A Shorter Set opening for Tom Petty, the whole
band burnin' it up from start to finish.
August 22, 2004 Oakdale Theatre- Los Lonely Boys was supposed to open for them
but canceled, so we eneded up getting "An Evening with the ABB" and what an
evening it was. Probably one of the best versions of Hotlanta I've ever heard, and a
smokin' You Don't Love Me opening the show.

Probably 3-25-04 , my first ABB show at the Beacon. The places eminates a mystical vibe and it sounds amazing in there.
Also Bonaroo in 2003. That really drove the hook in there with the current line-up.
My first show ever at SPAC in Saratoga, NY in 1992 was very special. They did Hot'lanta and I went there hoping they would do it. First time I saw Warren ever and he blew me away form the first show. I saw Warren with his solo band a few months later.

And I think Layton might have been referring to the 8-8-01 Chicago Theater show....it was almost 3 hours long.

1. Done Somebody Wrong
2. Stand Back
3. All Night Train
4. Hoochie Coochie Man
5. Desdemona
6. End Of The Line
7. The Sky Is Crying
w/Pinetop Perkins, piano
8. Revival
Set II:
9. Don't Want You No More
10. It's Not My Cross To Bear
11. Rocking Horse
12. Good Clean Fun
13. The High Cost Of Low Living
14. Gambler's Roll
15. Just Before The Bullets Fly
16. Southbound
w/Larry McCray, guitar
17. Whipping Post
Encore:
18. Midnight Rider

This is the show where Warren wanted to do MJ as the encore but Butch said no Effin' way since they wsere already 5 minutes over the curfew....so they played MR instead. You could see them "discussing" it next to the stage....

Fully agree. I've been to nearly every Beacon run since 92 and the moment from the end of Dreams through the opening of Mt Jam was fantastic. Every single person in the Beacon was dead silent. There was a chill through the whole place. How many Beacon shows have you been to where you could hear a pin drop from anywhere in the whole theatre?

Of all the ABB I've heard, it is amazing to me that THE BEST shows are still the ones they recorded for the Fillmore East album. The 9/16/71 and Blue Sky archive shows and a few others could probably tie, but those Fillmore East shows were the peak.

The second Jones Beach show from 91, 3/13/92, 3/14/92, 7/3/92, 7/4/92, and Denver 94 were all personal favs.

8/14/94 Greatwoods, 8/26/96 Reno, NV and 3/13/96 Beacon are all show I wish I had attended.

....oh yes, Paris 91 (Jessica + Dreams), Merriwether 91 and Crested Butte 91....NYE Cow Palace show was great....

....these all tie for second.

I would have to go with 7/17/71 as my best show. In fact, it was the most memorable moment of my entire life ...

I also really liked 9/23/00. The three-day Fox run was over the top. And seeing Layla the first time at the Beacon was an incredible experience.

There are many more that belong on the list -- Beach to Peach and so on -- but these are highlights.
