I've been known to listen to House Dog Party Favor - Disco Biscuits. If you can, find the time they played it on The Jammys a few years back, Jon Gutwillig was oustanding that night

Blues Traveler -- The Hook -- great, emotional song, cool harp solo. I think by far the best song from (to me) a wildly inconsistent band.

Blues Traveler -- The Mountains Win Again -- and if I remember correctly this is the tune with Warren Haynes.

My Morning Jacket -- It Makes No Difference -- pretty much an exact replica of the Band's version, but cool nonetheless. It helps that It Makes No Difference is my favorite. song. ever.

Yeah. I really like Jerry Joseph. He's kind of gotten
a lot more mellow lately. He's a great songwriter IMO.
"Mouth Full Of Copper", Live w/ the Jackmormons
is one of my favorite CD's. 2 CD's - Every song Rocks!

Take any one of those bands, and start a station based on it on www.pandora.com.

You'll get lots by that artist, and lots by artists sharing similar qualities.

You just need to spend some time looking around on archive. http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=etree&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fcreator " target=_blank> http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=etree&field=%2Fmetadata%2F creator They have a lot of shows from most (if not all) of the bands mentioned on here. Just read some of the comments / ratings and pick the shows that way.

Also, its really hard to pick one or two songs that would define these bands and give you an accurate opinion of the band.

Yonder - I like 40 miles from denver
Disco Biscuits - M.E.M.P.H.I.S. or nughuffer are both good. - these guy may be really difficult to get at first, as they start and finish the same song on different tour stops, play a song inverted or mixed up.

which ever way you go, have fun and enjoy the discovery.

I think Railroad Earth is one of the best bands out there right now. They are purely organic with their sound, if you like the acoustic Dead material, Reckoning, Workingman's Dead, American Beauty. Then you will love them. Check out Their Double Live album ELKO, also if you want specific songs I have always liked the live version of Bird in a House, Long Way to Go, Mighty River. All of them are off of ELKO live, but they have several studio albums as well. Like most of the bands mentioned around here they are better live, IMO.

First my own 2 cents....If you like Yonder try Trampled by Turtles....I'm a bluegrass/newgrass fan and I can't stop listening to this album Trouble I got. They are much like Yonder in the sense it is traditional b'grass instumentation, but its distinctly THIER music, original music not just traditionals. "Cieling Slide" and "Never Again" are great entry point songs.

As for specific Yonder songs...oh man someone mentioned "2 Hits" which Im pretty sure is a John Hartford cover...they love covering him..."Holding" is awesome, so is "Howard Huges Blues". But if I had to pick one true Yonder song I think it'd be "Steep Grade, Sharp Curves".

Railroad Earth are one of my top bands...so hard to pick even an album ...but I'll go with three songs: "Black Bear" off of The Black Bear Sessions, "Lovin' You" off of Amen Corner, and "Warhead Boogie" , a live cover off of Elko. And to other RRE fans, be sure to check out the original live version of "Head" on Take Enough Home by Todd's old band From Good Homes.

And I didn't know Warren played on "Mountains Win Again". That'd be my pick for Blues Traveler, though it lost some of its luster when it was co-op'ted by Busch beer. Off the top of my head I'd say anything off their first album, maybe for nostalgia reasons...like "But Anyway" or "Gina".

For My Morning Jacket there is always "Mahgeetah" or "Golden" off of It Still Moves. But I love thier new album too..."I'm Amazed" off Evil Urges is probably my favorite.

String Cheese I really don't know well enough to comment intelligently. I like what I've heard, and like Honkeytonk Homeslice and Emmit Nershi Band, but just haven't been deep enough into thier back catalog.

Disco Biscuits and Umphrey's I can straight up just say I don't like. While I can take seeing Umph occasionally and can be good, Biscuits I really just plain think are over-rated. My opinion only.
