I am at home, sick with a cold, watching tv, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER is on (edited for Television, unfortunately). I've seen this movie countless times and still love it. John Travolta's best performance to date. Tony Monero was a superb dancer, admired by all at the disco, the leader of his peers, and a failure in the real world. Why did he ever decide to partner with Stephanie (aka "Bitch in training"?????)

Of course it's also a hoot to see the polyester leisure suits and wicked hair styles.

The soundtrack is classic disco, I have it on my Ipod. As well as stuff from Bee Gees, KC & The Sunshine Band.

Any fans of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER? What are your favorite scenes in the movie?

I hate to admit it but I actually like much of the music from the soundtrack. Brings back fond memories from that time period.

I always like the song "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman
from the soundtrack.

no denying ~ it's disco but it's a great movie...and i think most everyone knows the songs by heart whether they'll admit it or not!

The scene of him walking down the street with the title track playing in perfect rhythm is great.

Good movie. As far as disco goes, when I take my children to the local skating rink the 10% of old disco songs they play sounds great compared to the 90% of the rap music that they usually play.

The movie is a classic, it never gets old.
I have the soundtrack on my ipod and I know all the words to all the songs. Nothing to be ashamed about.
That soundtrack kicks ass.

The Bee Gees are great , To Love Somebody is a favorite of mine. Warren has actually covered it before .

Someone should start a list of songs Warren hasn't covered.

We old farts who used to gig don't dig the SNF, many of the clubs that hired us stopped having live music and started having DJs.

As a movie it doesn't suck.

I really thought this one one of those "made you look" threads. New wave saved me from the disco era.

R n B run into the ground by calling it disco.

I still like the Bee Gees.

For its time, the movie was cool.

But the suits took R n B and gave it a name "disco" and then EVERYBODY had to put out something with 103 beats per minute. Wore it OUT!!!

It's always been a secret fantasy of mine to have the entire dance floor clear out and cheer me on as I proceed to lay down my extraordinary solo dance moves

Great flick, it's one of the three on my Streets of NY tape, The Warriors & Do The Right Thing being the others

The scene of Bobby choking back tears as he walks away after loaning John Travolta his car, is quite powerful -- all his insecurities, ganging up on him (they show his high heeled shoes as he's walking away)
having the theatre version makes a difference w/this one

They play RAP at a skating rink? Gangsta rap? With the F word?

Grew up in Brooklyn ( 45th Street / 8th Ave ) just a mile away from where they filmed the dance scenes at the 2001 Disco ( 64th & 8th Avenue ) and I'll admit that it is a fun movie to watch , but I can't help but hate all of the John Travolta wannabe's that this movie created in the neighborhood. It kinda of sucked for someone like me who was into bands like The ABB , Grateful Dead etc. Glad there were still some of us long haired teen freaks aropund then who still loved good R&R.

That movie made it easier to spot the enemy.
