Saw the original band in 74 at the Academy of Music on 14th St. They were incredible. But now lets just call it what it is. A tribute band. I'm good with that. But out of respect for the originals, retire the name. The Rossington Band would do fine. I understand it won't sell as many tickets...

Here is a list of all the great bands that I loved in my youth (besides the Allman Brothers) that are still legitimate rock and roll bands:

Be a big step down for Billy Payne , imho. Little Feat are musicians' musicians...not an over the hill hanging on to the past lets make some more money off this sucker band. Harsh, ya - sometimes the truth hurts.

I have a well-connected Feat fan who tells me it's NOT true.

Bill Paine has a style like Billy Powell, and musically he would fit in with the band. What is funny is on the Skynyrd forum, they're all complaining about the upcoming tour with Kid Rock. (and you thought it was just a bunch of disgruntled ABB fans).

pops42,

Just looking at that cover of "Street Survivor" I find it ironic that Gary Rossington is the last "surviving"member of the classic Lynyrd Skynyrd. You know Ronnie Van Zant wote the song "That Smell" about Rossington. You know Rossington might have had "the smell of death around him", but somehow or another he's the last man standing. Funny how life works out.

actually artimus pyle is alive and kicking[from the 1977 line-up.] but he was fired in 1992. it is very ironic about rossington though.

pops42,

I know that Artimus Pyle is still living, what I meant was still playing with LS.

I don't think Bill Payne would leave Feat for Skynyrd. That is one of the funniest things I have heard today at a miserable day at work.

Looking forward to another Skynyrd Tour and CD, without Bill Payne. I love my Little Feat too.

Billy Powell will be on 6 songs on the new CD.

"Speculation is sweeping the internet that Bill Payne is about to leave Little Feat to take over keyboard duties from the late Billy Powell in Lynyrd Skynyrd"

I could envision him helping them out in the studio or perhaps even for a few important dates...but the day he joins that band is the day I ....well I'm not sure what...but I bet I'd do something drastic....god forbid!

If the Brothers ever decided to add a piano player, Bill Payne would be a helluva choice. I saw Feat open (actually the Radiators came on first) for the ABB at Poplar Creek near Chicago back in like '91.....I would love to hear what Billy could do with Jessica. It always sounds like a big doughnut to me without a piano solo in the middle....
