For anyone close to Gadsden that doesn't already have plans Saturday the Fish Market in Gadsden is putting on it's 2nd Annual Crawfish/Shrimp Boil Saturday May 9th....starting @ 2:00 I believe.....

Local artist & Local bands...

Albert Simpson of Highly Kind 2:30
Dayzd 3:30 to 5:00
Lefty Collins Band 5:30 to 7:00
Skydogs 7:30 to 10:00

I think these times are correct....

Also later that night there will be a benefit for a local musician @ Chestnut Station...very busy day for music in Gadsden...

Of course, with the Crawfish/Shrimp Boil it all depends on the weather...So hoping for clear skies for Saturday!

Second annual...
Pretty cool deal for our little town. Nice lush riverbank, kids running around, frisbee, fishing. Adult beverage in cups. Lawn chairs, quilts. Free event, with the three best bands in the area--Highly Kind, Lefty Collins Band, Skydogs. Possible guest appearance by Josh Gooch.
Excellent seafood available from the Fish Market, who's footing the bill. A day of intermingling of young and old hippies.

The benefit afterwards, at Chestnut Station, is for Russ Rosser. longtime local musician.
Russ recently lost 3 fingers in a table saw accident, ending his career and leaving extensive medical bills. Appearing with LCB and the Skydogs will be another excellent local band, Ballyhoo. This deal was put together by Russ's brother David, who owned half a recording studio in New Orleans for many years. David plays in 2 bands, the Twilight Singers and the Gutter Twins. Both have been on Conan this year, both have toured internationally this year. David is bringing in some of his fellow musicians from New Orleans for this, nobody knows exactly who.

Another marathon day for my codger a**. Starts with lawn mowing, ends in the wee hours at Chestnut. Good thing I did that NYC deal on my b'day. To stay in shape.

Randy, I think it might be Albert solo acoustic...and a band of young kids that is making a name for themselves is Dayzed...pretty cool to see them mixing it up at such a young age

That sounds like an awesome time. I love shrimp and crawfish is ok too. So if we here a big sucking sound from the South, we will know where the noise is coming from...... I will be at our NC Coast doing some surf fishing and might be using shrimp for bait. Gadsden seems like its always got it going on down there.

OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sounds like a great time! Is this close to Noccallula Falls campground? Never been camping there but would like to. Their website was down the last time I checked.

Alabama is beautiful and has some wonderful folks there. Spent some time camping at Cheaha Mtn. last summer.

Sounds great, but I will be in Hunts Vegas for the Rocket City Brewsfest. Two days, six bands, hundreds of beers. http://rocketcitybrewfest.com/

The event is in support of Free The Hops a statewide organization dedicated to changing Alabama's antiquated beer laws and bring higher ABV's to the state.
http://www.freethehops.org/

Lefty, you just gotta try the mudbugs. They are great!! As they say, pinch the tail and suck the head!! You need to try it!

1. Pick the biggest crawfish
2. Break in half.
3. Suck the head
4.Peal the first tail section
5. Pinch the tail
6.Bite the tail meat
7. Savor the flavor
8. Take a drink of cold beer
8. Repeat

Near River Country Campground, Redd. Quite close. Falls is maybe 6 miles away.
I try to take visitors by the Falls, it is a pretty area. We looked in to doing the Jam there one year, but it was just too expensive.

Let me know if you ever head this way, I'll try to help with logistics.

Grits are a good side for breakfast. Just butter, salt and pepper and they are great.
There are alot of great grits casserole recipes with everything from bacon and cheese to shrimp and peppers. Just Google " grits" and away you go.

And I am NOT touching the one about eating G.R.I.T.S......You figure it out! LMAO!!!

What a great day & night of music.....the Lefty Collins Band still amazes me each time I see them play.....I am a little partial, but those of you who have had the pleasure of seeing them play have told me you understand it too....

Fun night @ Chestnut Station....Josh Gooch sat in with the band & had a great time....very fun night....plus, it was all for a good cause to help out a fellow musician in need....Russ seemed to really enjoy himself.....and makes me realize no matter how bad things get there is always a reason to smile....Thanks Russ Rosser for helping me realize this....

Couldn't it have happened Somewhere else besides Gadsden ? ......

I can't think of Gadsden without thinking of 22 traffic lights in a 2 mile stretch, of narrow streets, in Friday rush hour traffic, with an immediate left turn under a bridge, and an immediate right, after the left,...while trying to get through town, to get to Cullman, on the other side somewhere.........I have tried every possible way Around that town.

grumble,....whine,.....grumble,.....HATE that traffic and 22 lights,......grumble,.....

Sorry you feel that way windsinger....depending on which way you are coming there might be a way to avoid that on a Friday to get to Cullman....rush hour isn't really that bad if you compare it to Atlanta or Chicago or NY....LOL.....maybe if you have time one day stop & listen to some of our great music around here, you won't regret it!
