OK i bought a friends harddrive that had 6 gig of music on it....

love most of it, but he had the ENTIRE Frank Zappa and Capt Beefhart colleciton on it. There is nothing quite like putting the iPhone on "random", chilling out to DTB, the song switches and its a Beefhart song like "I wanna find a woman that'll hold my big toe till...."???

Does anyone actually LIKE this stuff? it all seems like eclectic noise to me.

same dude also had the entire known collection of Donavan on here, but that is long gone. (too much of a good thing is still, well too much )

I'm an enormous Zappa and Beefheart fan and have almost all their albums.
There's also connections between Zappa and the Allman Bros: Warren Haynes &
Gov't Mule covered Zappa's Pygmy Twylyte and Frank Zappa
covered the Allman Bros' "Whipping Post".
I can understand how Beefheart is an acquired taste for some, but
I personally like his music.

Beefheart takes the cake for me with great song titles:

"When I See Mommy I Feel Like a Mummy"
"Lick My Decals Off, Baby"
"Tropical Hot Dog Night"

ha, i hear ya Linnie ...... on both fronts: a friend gave me a hard-drive (tho it has about 200GB of music! - mp3s!!!) - SO much listening (yeah!) and SO much weeding-through and tossing entire collections .......

such as Zappa ........ the only Zappa that I really dig is the album (double?) that has absolutely no vocals. It's actually very good, and does IMO fit right in to a "dTb etc. oriented playlist" .......... can't remember the name of the album, but it has Guitar(s) in the title, as i recall.

Rob: That would be "Shut Up and Play Your Guitar", and I agree that it's absolutely some of the best Zappa out there.
