FYI, A little birdie( and a reliable one) made it clear that there will be a road-block set up just north of The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park on Rt. 129 in Hamilton County. If you are coming to the park from the north on I-75, do not take the 451 exit, as you will be greeted by a roadblock with drug dogs. Instead, travel south to I-75 and then go east on I-10 until you see signs for the park( exit 283). The warning came from a LE officer, so please take this seriously.

Well, you have to give the Sheriff points for being consistent. What a waste of public safety resources, not to mention putting a damper on a local business, the SOSMP.

I have a friend who goes to his cabin in Canada several times a summer.
he sticks his stash in two bags, puts it inside a chicken and freezes it.
Never raised an eyebrow.

If you go East on I-10 at that point would you not be headed away from Live Oak towards Jacksonville? Should you not go West on 10 to get to exit 283?

Last time I went to Bonnaroo, they searched my vehicle. I had my buddy's son (21) with me and they enformed us that "no glass" was allowed. Carter had just bout a six of Bud bottles. There was a stack of beer in bottles - six packs, twelve packs, cases there that you wouldn't believe. They also did a cursory check of the truck for other things.

Carter said (I was on the wagon at the time) "I just bought this". "You can't take it in." So, we pulled over to the side and that kid killed four beers. I didn't mind cause I found it so funny.

Another friend went in a motor home and said that the security looked in the fridge and was going to take their pickles, mustard, etc. until they shamed them about how ridiculous it was.

Whatever happened to "probable cause"?

Maybe the dogs sniff for cars without drugs, and the officers supply those that don't.

just a thought. it's possible.

This sort of stuff has been going on a long time before the war on terror. My brother unfortunately was arrested about 15 years ago on his way to Arizona from California for spring break. They were pulled over for essentially no reason. The cop then searched the car and found some things. However, the case was dismissed as the police officer had no probable cause. I don't even think the officer showed up for the court date either.

If anything, I feel like they should check people on the way out to make sure they aren't driving out of their brains.

I got stopped at a roadblock on my drive to Mountain Jam last Saturday. I stayed about 18 miles from the mountain and about 2 miles into our trip to the mountain Saturday there was a roadblock. They stopped each car, asked many questions, and randomly pulled people over and really poured through their stuff. They had one car pulled over and it looked like the contents of each person's suitcases were layed out on the side of the road. Luckily I did not get pulled over as I had a small personal herb stash in my pocket. There were no drug sniffing dogs thank God and I took much more care hiding it the rest of the weekend even though we never saw another roadblock.

I read somewhere that Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts today! Just tell the kind officers that!

Or another thought: you could skip the drugs and just go to the park and enjoy the monster line-up of good music, camping, and friendships.....................it's amazing how much less stressful police checkpoints are when you are sober and have nothing to hide.

I'm sorry if this reads as obnoxious......

I'm curious ......were these State Troopers or Local ( County Sheriff or Hunter Locals ) cops ? I was talking with a long time Hunter resident / buisiness owner who is involved in the local politics and he was telling me that he had convinced through proper chanels that the local police WOULD NOT be doing the "License & Registration" check point that you must have gone through. He mentioned they had no control over the Staties but the Locals were not going to be involved in that .

Yeah, Lefty, but it's not as though our friends, brothers, and sisters are carrying rocket launchers.

These people, for the most part wouldn't cause any problem at all. The law enforcement officials are essentially creating the issue.

You and Leeann have a great time. I wish I could be there with everyone.

Not obnoxious but I see nothing wrong with a little herb at a show. No problem with cracking down on hard drugs. I know what you are gonna say, weed is against the law and BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, but the pot smokers aren't the ones who ruin the atmosphere. It is the stumbling drunks who legally drink themselves into oblivion and stumble, fall, puke, and spill their way all over the festival. I have yet to see any trouble making or out of control pot smokers at these events. Tons of out of control legal drinkers though.
